(Probably when dogs go for walks, they rub themselves around whatever strange smells they can find, to give themselves something to sniff when they get home. If you go to a clean dog at his own home, though, they usually smell good if they are cared for. I've never smelled a good cat - always stinking of fishy breath or some other abomination it has eaten (e.g. some poor bird or diseased rodent), or something even worse it has left in the yard. Dirty, stinky, little creatures they are!)
