Strictly "Christian" music is impoverished....it doesn't make the money, secular music does... but many groups start out by seeking fame in Christian circles (by bringing in better talent and more modern music) and then crossing over to secular music. (Which was their goal to begin with)
Not always. There are plenty of Christian artists singing the Word and God is blessing them as a ministry. IE Kieth and Krysten Getty are one couple walking faithfully in their gifting.
Very Celtic sounding! The title reminded me of this Hillsong song...Not always. There are plenty of Christian artists singing the Word and God is blessing them
as a ministry. IE Kieth and Krysten Getty are one couple walking faithfully in their gifting.
Read the Psalms....
Then read the words to the popular music of the day.
"I" is the first word or in the first sentence of every modern song....everyone is singing about themselves instead of God.
Can't serve two masters....either God or yourself. Who is it gonna be? Christian music looks like secular music with an ego.
Can you post an example to support your argument?a look at the overall psalms shows David’s very intimate relationship with God and this before Jesus’ blood atonement for our sin . How much more of an intimate relationship we have available now that we are justified through Christs blood? The I and God words are actually quite Balanced in the psalms. David isn’t afraid to pour out his heart and be honest about his anguish, pain, anxieties, and joy before holy God and neither should we. Personally I don’t see it as selfishness in most modern songs using I . It is I believe hearts reflecting the hunger for personal intimate and relatable relationship with God. Our new hearts core desire is to want to know the Father and Son intimately . Something the psalms point out as a very real reality of David and God. We can know everything “about” God and still not know Him like David. What makes Holy God relatable to humanity today? Jesus Christ . We haven’t discipled our current generation of Christians well on how to know our God intimately better than was possible for David. God who desires intimacy with us. So “I”phrases and words in song become our way to press into relationship with Him. These are just my thoughts on why
“I “seems so prevalent in modern worship.

Contrasted with "I got a dent in my fender and holes in my jeans"The psalmists heart longing for an intimate encounter with Holy God
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.”
Psalms 42:1-7 NIV
Some “I” statements
“I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.”
Psalms 3:4-6 NIV
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.”
Psalms 9:1-2 NIV

Ummm....
I'll take David over modern popular.
The focus is God in all the psalms...not so much self focus.

Maybe someone needs to listen to the TOP SONGS ON THE CONTEMPORARY CHART ONCE IN A WHILE.
