I would like to think that is true, but I am afraid that many people are taught that faith and belief are all that it takes. Then, you are "in".
There is no faith without repentance.

Just because people claim they have faith does not mean they do.

Paul and James were both precise in this truth.

Unfortunately, over the past 7+ years on this site, I have witnessed MANY people stating that they had not been baptized, and had no plans to be, because it "wasn't important".... that's what they were taught. I was saved by grace/faith/belief alone, and do not need to do any "works".... it's not necessary.
can you pull up one of these posts? I would like to understand these people.

do they go to church. do they give, are they loving, to do they anythign God says?

Tell that to Peter.

Peter answered, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

Baptism is like that. It saves you now—not because it removes dirt from your body but because it is the mark of a good conscience toward God. Your salvation comes through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1st Peter 3:21)

Or tell that to Ananias.

And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name! (Acts 22;16)

Your reasoning is but human conjecture. Theirs is scripture. I believe them.
my friend,

I have shown you what this passage really says many times now

If you refuse to look for yourself. that is not on me.

God luck, when you meet Christ. I pray you do not tell him you deserve heaven because you let some man or woman immerse you in water

Acts 2:37-39
Young's Literal Translation

37 And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, `What shall we do, men, brethren?'
38 and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

Sounds like remission of sins is the purpose.

1st Peter 3:21
The water of baptism is like that. It saves you. It does not save you because it washes dirt from your bodies. But it saves you because you bring yourselves to God with a clean heart. It saves you because Jesus Christ has been raised from death.

I trust Peter over your human conjecture.
you trust 2 passage that you have misinterpreted

and reject the many passages that refute your belief

I will stick with God. I will not replace his baptism with baptism in water.. which is blasphemy.. and since it is the HS that is being blasphemed.

well you get the picture (or do you?) Sadly I fear you do not

Water baptism is so important that Jesus was personally baptized....with H2O.
Jesus had John the Baptist baptize Him in water to fulfill all righteousness.

We put on Christ's righteousness through faith in His shed righteous blood.

And baptism does not require a qualifier, water is the normative.
I realize that you and some others are of that opinion, but since baptism is not always by water, a qualifier is helpful.

It still remains that you read water into verses where it is not present, which violates your standard for others.

There is a word for that...

um.... which passage? There are two of them.
Can you kindly "show" me again what the true meaning of either one/both really is?

And, again you go putting words in my mouth... it's getting tiresome. You really need to go back and re-read (for comprehension this time) what I have said about salvation being "earned" or "deserved"
What you keep attributing to me, wrongly, would be considered "slander" in a court of law. Please stop it.

We are to follow the example of Jesus. Jesus with a humble heart was baptized to fulfill all righteousness, are we to do less?

Jesus was sinless. Have you followed that example?

Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.. did you follow that example

Jesus raised people from the dead. did you follow that example?

How is your walking on water coming along?

Do you really not understand that we put on Jesus' righteousness through faith?

Your personal understanding of these verses being correct is not a given.

Your arrogance is showing.

Your examples do not negate the need for the remission of sins. Nor the need for us to follow them.

My Arrogance?

I looked to the greek

The arrogant part is on you my friend.

I just used your own reasoning my friend.. don't ask us if we follow Jesus then when confronted talk as if you did not say it..

I recieved remission of sin, by the blood of Christ,. because i was baptized BY GOD into his death

Not because I was immersed in water by another sinner.

The Greek states "so that your sins may be forgiven" not "because your sins are forgiven".

This is why you cannot find a single Bible version that states "because of" regardless of what language the Bible is printed in.

You are fighting the Greek and 2000 years of translations.

So yes. your arrogance is showing.
