In America, for example, should a believer help their country during a national crisis based on what the scriptures actually say?

Or is it okay to do nothing at all?

What does He say? That is how a "Christian" is to live, talking everything to the Father in Jesus name for His guidance in what we are to do.:):giggle:

Howdy Breathe.

This topic has been hashed out a LOT here. If you run some searches for common key terms I'm sure you'll find plenty of threads on it.

As a Christian, I consider Heaven to be my country. What happens to the local pagans is less a concern of mine. Sure, I want the best for them which is believing in Christ, but as pagans, their goals are usually diametrically opposed to mine. I certainly wouldn't join them in one of their wars against other pagans, or take an untested vaccine because the pagan leaders decided this was the only way to appease the gods of science in their false religion.

I think Christians can help, as far as it depends on them, but we are not at peace with the world. The world is acting against Christ and His kingdom. Act with love to win souls, but always remember their end and their goals are not the same as ours.

Or you could do what we are all supposed to do, take it to the Lord for His guidance and not lean on your, or anyone else "opinion".

What, you can't ask anyone else for advice about important decisions?

When I get a new (well, used... new-to-me) car, I pray about it, sure. (It's a big expense for me, I'm gonna pray about it, you bet!) But I'm also asking my uncle Fred for his opinion. We are given friends to be friends, and that includes advice.

But he said help, he didn't say military. Not everyone who wants to help wants to join the military. Just look at Brandon.
I lost two half gallon jugs of farm-fresh milk a week ago when someone in an SUV with Biden-hating bumper stickers on the back stopped suddenly in front of me. I'm allergic to references to "Brandon" now. :p

So, you were following too close to stop in a safe distance and you are blaming them for the way they stopped?:)

You might have been given relatives to ask for advice, I hope not, I hope you are doing what Jesus told us we should be doing in John 16 and seeking His direction first.:);)(y)

Well if you're criticizing me to get your "I'm so spiritual" boost, I guess at least you're leaving some other poor schmuck alone.

This is the second time in 4 days though. Cameron used me for the same purpose last weekend. Could you Pharisees at least schedule it a bit better, so you don't burn out my own spirituality?

no one is posting to let you play victim. we all must own up.
You, me, all of us. Please reset your trigger.:):giggle:(y)
If the Lord is putting people who care about you into your life to sharpen your iron please receive it and not do a flame out.
If Cameron is one, then I am more assured this is so. The time is too short, all hands on deck for the harvest.
best wishes.

We ARE to help our country. This is bogus.

a) God tells us to pray for the welfare of the nation we're in.

b) God wants us to be good stewards of what He gives us.

c) He never tells the solider to stop soldiering.

d) David was a believer who fought -- and killed -- for his country. So was Gideon. So was Joshua. So were the Jews in Persia under an edict from Xerxes.

e) If you TRULY love your neighbor -- this INCLUDES the pagan -- you will sacrificially love them -- as Christ did us. You will vote for the best candidates available to best ensure their quality of life. You will put your life on the line for their defense. You will not just preach the gospel. You will LIVE it on their behalf.

God I HATE when Christians say they won't vote or fight.

Remind me of a quote from a dad.

"I have two kids, a boy and a girl. Very different, having a boy and having a girl.

When my boy was born I knew that I would die to protect him. When my girl was born, that was something very different. I realized I would kill to protect her."

I wonder how his thoughts changed if he ever became redeemed and Spirit filled?
Carnal people dwell on dying and killing, Jesus came that we might have life, and that, in abundance.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. (Prov 15:22)

Had we sat on our thumbs in WW2 there wouldn't be a Jew left today. I don't believe every war is a just war and I think we do need to seek God about it. I don't believe we have any business being in Ukraine and all those support signs on peoples lawns have silently disappeared. But WW2 was a just war because they took away the rights of human beings and treated them worse than animals. We are to defend the poor, the abused and helpless, we did just that in WW2. Just as a for instance.

I don't think that's true, depending on your interpretation of scripture, and who "the remnant" are. But there would be a lot fewer Communists and many more Christians.
