I just started today! Looking for a place to fellowship with others now and then. But I often don't know what to say.

Welcome.

Your username brings this to mind:

1 Peter 1:23-25

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

I'll have to admit that when picking a username I looked out the window and saw flowers and grass. That's how I picked it. But I am familiar with this scripture.

Well, all that I can say is that I am glad that you did not see your neighbor bending over while pulling weeds when you looked out the window or else your username might have been "plumberscrack".

o_O

I did not just say that, did I?

Yes, I did.

Welcome. Seems to me you have 2 choices. You can stay quiet until you are sure what to say or you can speak. But I'll share with you something my mom shared with me when I was young. I'm not sure where she heard it. She said it's better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
Can't say I've always followed that advise, but I always thought it was correct.
Welcome again.

That saying is often attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but it is based on Proverbs 17:27-28 ~

A man of knowledge restrains his words, and a man of understanding maintains a calm spirit.
Even a fool is considered wise if he keeps silent, and discerning when he holds his tongue.

:)

There are also these parallel verses:

Proverbs 15:2
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Job 13:5

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

Ecclesiastes 5:3

For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
