Traditionally Luke 15:3-32 has been viewed as containing 3 parables; the lost sheep, lost coin and the prodigal son. But Luke 15:3 and Luke 15:8 and Luke 15:11 suggest that Luke 15:3-32 is actually one parable (albeit with three "vinyettes"). Any one care to comment?

I was gonna say, ask Cameron... :)
It is a 3 part parable that shows how the godhead is active in our salvation. Jesus as the Good Shepherd laid down His life for the sheep, the Holy Spirit comes and brings enlightenment and cleansing, and the Father welcomes us home.

Fine point George71! Now what is also important is how we look at these parables in relationship to our own walk. (Rom 15:13) We make mistakes daily by either word or deed, we hopefully learn from them, and we press forward to encourage one another in love to RUN the Race till we all finish! (Acts 20:23-24!!).

You are 100% correct.
So, upon further examination, the 100% correct results are:

3 'small illustrations' (vignettes?) explaining the spiritual lesson of:

'repentance of sinners on earth, and the resultant rejoicing in heaven'?

Sound about right?

Amen.

Given Luke 15:1-2 I'm not sure that a 3 part parable on the Godhead was what the Lord had in mind when He spoke the parable. Seems like He was intent on responding to the muttering Pharisees and teachers of the law, i.e "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." Just like in Mark 2:16-17. Only in Luke instead of a one verse answer He gave those listening (including the Pharisees/teachers) a 3 part parable to give a greater understanding to those who have an ear to hear of who is healthy/sick, i.e who qualifies as a sinner.

We both oversimplified some great salvation truths but that is certainly the gist of things.

I don't disagree with what you have written and there is always more to be discovered in scripture.
