The Biblical 4th Commandment : "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." (Exodus 20:8)

Note: This is a Commandment and not a suggestion by God.

The Biblical Sabbath day is Saturday, the seventh day of the week, although now it is predominantly practiced on Sunday. The early churches kept the Sabbath on Saturday until 321 BC. Constantine, a Roman Catholic who was the high priest of paganism and who honored the sun god, changed the Sabbath, the 7th day, to the day of the sun, the 1st day. Under penalty of death, Saturday worship was forbidden.

The biblical LORD'S DAY is in fact the first day of the week and is observed by Christians. Unless you are promoting Seventh Day Adventism, this post has no bearing on Christian worship, rest, and good works. Unsaved Jews still observe the 7th day Sabbath, and that is because they reject Christ.

There is scripture telling us that the Sabbath was established by the Lord on the seventh day of creation. Genesis 2:2-3. There is no scripture saying it is changed to the day Mary discovered that Christ had risen.

A man named Justin who lived 150 years after Christ was crucified started it by teaching that Sunday worship was a way of honoring Christ, although scripture says Christ did not change anything his father said. Marr.5:17. "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. "

The rest of Matthew 5 explains how Christ did not change anything, but in the old testament it spoke of God's directions in symbols of the flesh, and how Christ gives those same directions, but spiritually. I don't see how this could mean that God took his blessing of Saturday away and gave it to Sunday.

It is also the only commandment not repeated at any time in the New Testament.

In fact, according to the Jewish religious leaders at the time, Jesus broke the Sabbath, and they sought to kill Him for it.

However, Jesus justified working on the Sabbath, and said His Father works on the Sabbath also.

The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the Church. And your comment above shows that you have ignored what is revealed in the New Testament regarding the Lord's Day.

Do we have to go over this again? It's been done to death. Go get your rocks and start stoning those who reject SDA false teachings. I'll stick to Colossians 2:16. The sabbath was made for man. The early church met every day of the week. Real Christians honour God every day, not just once a week.

Is it possible the Lord's Day is the Day, the instant, He returns, that is, at the dawning of the seventh melinium?

Please see Revelation 1:10. Being "in the Spirit" on the Lord's Day implies worship and communication with God. "The Day of the LORD" is a period of divine judgments before the Second Coming of Christ. Two different things.

Some times I have seen or heard The Day of the Lord, and other times I have heard The Lord's Day. Is there a difference?

I see you only joined last Tuesday and you're already preaching at us. I'd hate to think that's the only reason you joined.

I have always understood they are interchangeable with His return when all becomes His, and perhaps the Sabbath day worship, however the first has always intrigued me because it brings to mind judgement and coming to His eternal Throne.

Really, to not know until His Day is His will for me I believe I am happy to live with that. He will explain all mysteries on His day.

I just cannot see this in the New Testament. I see them command nothing about observing a certain day.

I see the Day of the Lord beginning at the Bowl judgements and this is the reason the Sheep/Goat judgement is by works and not Grace. Sabbath was a shadow of things to come also meaning that the Millenial reign will also be called the Sabbath day.

Colossians 2:16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. 17 These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ

Seventh Day Adventists are not the only denomination that worships on Saturday. Here is a complete list of Sabbath keeping denominations.

Sabbatarian Baptists
Sabbatarian Adventists
Sabbatarian Pentecostalists
Sabbatarian British Israelites / (Armstrongism)

There is nothing in Scripture that states that Sunday is the Sabbath. Christ was resurrected on Sunday. That does not make Sunday the Sabbath.

First of all the Bible does not speak of "Sunday" but always of "the first day of the week". So look up all the references to "the first day of the week" or "the Lord's Day" and then come back and tell us that there is nothing in Scripture about this important day -- the day of the resurrection of Christ.

Makes no difference. Sabbatarianism is actually in violation of the New Testament. The Sabbath days are "shadows" but the reality is Christ.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the Body is of Christ. (Col 2:16,17)

Jesus said that He is Lord of the Sabbath. He remained in the tomb on the Sabbath and rose again on "the morrow after the Sabbath" -- which is the first day of the week. That is because Christ is "the First Fruits of them that slept".
