This is a topic of vital importance.
In this topic I will show you all that when you use the word DM, you have been programmed by the internet and you risk Serious Danger into being deceived and possibly risk your Salvation.

Let's begin.

PM means Private Message.
DM means Direct Message.

When you are discussing with a group of people and you want to say something to a person but not the group, you naturally say "let's talk in private".
However, in both cases whether you're in a group or in private, you are still being direct or live with the person, so the word direct has no meaning really.

All messages in the internet are Direct or Live so it's a meaningless word. Private on the other hand has meaning because you're not addressing the group but a person.
This is why it's important that you all repent from the usage of the word DM and think clearly about this issue.

I look forward to your responses.

I don't usually announce it, but will just go ahead and message the other person. It did
happen once where someone said they were waiting for my reply to the other person, so
I let them know (publicly) that I had PM'd the other person to give them my answer.

Private on the other hand has meaning because you're not addressing the group but a person.
I doubt anything online any more is really private. Big Brother and all that... We have large dossiers somewhere!!! LOL

Here's some coffee .:D

You are correct in your message Magenta but what about all these other lost souls out there who still use DM?
They're in danger and we need to warn them.

As far as privacy goes, that went out the window when people started using Facebook.
But for vocabulary purposes we need to warn people that Private is more meaningful than Direct.

Have care, brother. All messages are NOT live. It is heresy to say they are, as one can not expect any message recipient to always be at the computer when one sends messages.

Of course I don't believe for a moment that brother Eli would make such a mistake. I choose to believe it was a vocabulary error, not a heretical belief. Surely my brother-in-qwerty does not believe every conversation on the internet is always in realtime.

But one must take care with one's vocabulary, lest our good be evil spoken of by the unbelievers. ;)

WHAT? Who taught you this teaching Lynx? You are in danger here.
The understanding of Live or Direct is that there is no delay like a Superbowl delay to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.
This whole thing is Live and when you talk to people in real life, you are live as well, unless you have a 10 second delay to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.

So, think about this and repent.

avoid wardrobe malfunctions.
Wardrobe malfunctions... yes, I suppose they hold some allure to the perpetually prurient voyeur,
though all-in-all, with the way fashion is going, especially "celebrity" fashion (which people gobble
up and copy no matter how ridiculous), with so much exposed/so little covered... and very sheer...
yes, with all that considered, one hardly needs to be concerned with wardrobe malfunctions any
more when so many in the public eye are pretty much letting it all hang out in the first place.

This is what happens when people don't know the meaning of the word Private anymore.

The sad thing is how young girls and young women start dressing like tarts (to mimic
those they admire) because they think it is cool, when the reality is they fan the flames
of predatory behaviour without having developed in any way the boundaries required
to deal with predatory types, which all women need regardless of their manner of dress.

I have to believe this is all in jest..........can't possibly see how ones salvation requires them to NOT use DM.....

It's alright Brother Elephant. We are all at different stages in our walk with God. Just pray and seek God's will and He will reveal to you in His time the error of your ways. Hopefully it will be before you cause too much more damage with your DM blasphemy. :p

What Does DM Mean? Understanding the Internet Shorthand

When people say PM sent or DM, both are talking about the same thing - i.e. a message to the person directly instead of publicly. Some people just prefer to say DM over PM and vice versa.

DM vs. PM - When Did PM Become DM? - Grammarhow
https://grammarhow.com/dm-vs-pm
Although “DM” is used on more recent popular social media sites like Twitter and Instagram, “PM” remains the most popular abbreviation referring to direct, private messages. “PM” is used by users on older sites like Facebook but remains the most used phrase overall. See more

I just can not find any evidence that using DM or PM will cause one to lose their salvation........methinks you are making muchadoaboutnada.....

Dear brother, this is a light-hearted topic which is a reflection of some other arguments here on this forum. So enjoy, have fun and we have free food and coffee here sponsored by the Soros foundation.

With that being said, DM has literally no meaning so it's not the same thing as PM. I've explained it in the OP.
What say you?

Eh, the elephant is just playing along, replying in kind.

... I hope.

Right? Surely nobody could have taken this seriously.

So... if someone perhaps occasionally sends an IM, it's not that bad, right? It’s not a PM, but it’s not a DM.

...Not that I’d ever send an IM, of course. I’m, uh… asking for a friend.

You bring up a very good point here.
IM = Instant Message.
This has as much meaning as DM.
All messages are instant and there's no delay, unless you're on a 10 second delay to prevent a Superbowl wardrobe malfunction.

So, stay away from this DM teaching friends and stay true to the original manuscripts.

I send instant messages personally. I call them IMPs.
