Alive Again

Matt Maher has some wonderful praise and worship.
This is one of my faves of his, from his second CD.

Late have I loved Him
He waited for me
I searched for Him
What took me so long?

He called and He shouted
Broke through my deafness
He shattered my darkness
Washed away my blindness

I can relate so much to the lyrics (I modified them to be from my perspective)
because I was almost fifty years old when I surrendered my life to Him... and He
did do a lot to get my attention to the point where I could no longer ignore that
the God I was seeking was the same One I had been running from most of my life...
Praise the Lord! For He is good... His love endures forever.

Wow! How did I ever miss this one? I love it! It takes me right back to 1963… when my “this-is-the-moment-when-everything-changes“ moment happened. I felt so super-charged that day that I expected to see myself glowing when I looked in the mirror. Of course, it was just the same me on the outside, but oh, what a difference that day has made in my life since!

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
……Psalm 27:13-14 (NKJV)

Sixty years later, I can say with assurance that He has walked beside me all these years, helped me through many difficult times, set me straight when I veered from the right path, blessed me with some beautiful relationships to encourage me along the way, and kept me pressing on. When I look back, I am certain that the person I am today was defined by His love for me and the hope I have in Him. I would have “lost heart” without Him.

Hallelujah! :D That moment of surrender, when we realize it does no good to run—that in fact, it is impossible to run—is such a blessed relief! No matter what age we are, we probably all ask ourselves, “What took me so long?” By the time we take refuge in Him, we can no longer even desire to be anywhere else. Thanks for sharing that, @Magenta.

Hi, Magenta;) The words of your poem touched my 💜. The apostle Paul also ran away from the Lord until the He got his attention.:love: Acts 9:15 tells us that Paul was a chosen vessel.:)

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. - John 6:44 (KJV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. - John 10:27-29 (KJV)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. - Romans 8:28-30 (KJV)
