Growing up, I was told all masturbation was a sin.

Matthew 5:28 says "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

To me, this means Porn/Masturbation is a sin.

My question is, is it a sin to masturbate while thinking or looking at your wife? (not at porn)

I mean, when my wife is not willing or able to be intimate with you (For example; time of the month), is it ok?
Am I allowed to lust over my wife?

It is impossible to lust over your own wife, just as it is impossible to steal what already belongs to you.

As long as your wife is aware of and truly accepting of your actions, it's nobody else's business.

Well, brndvis, Welcome, I am glad that you are here with us, lust is a very serious sinful thing in this case, please look at its context, and obey its meaning, regardless of your feelings, because your body is a living sacrifice, and it belongs to God, Responsibilities Toward God. Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

But is the seed he's sowing giving life?

If a woman is pregnant and the couple enjoy intimacy, does the seed give life? Isn't it God Himself who opens the womb and authors life?
God makes a way for the seed before it even enters the womb.

Ok. Help me understand your point.
If John were to go out in the field and sow seed, it would be another who reaps like scriptures says.
It relates to the water and the blood. Why would a man who was created in the image of the water spill his seed like Onan did and not lay with his wife?(blood)
Even if he is thinking of her,he is still spilling his seed on the ground.Onan's sin led to his death.

I'm not following the water and blood symbolism. Do you know offhand where that story is in the bible? I probably should reread it.
And can you tell me where the symbolism of the water and blood comes from and why you drew the analogies you drew?

I've talked about the water and the blood a lot but I'm not sure which threads. The analogy about John sowing seed in the field is about the water/repentance,and those who are of the water, and the blood, reap.

Eve came from the rib of Adam, and Jesus was pierced in the rib.The reason why God took Adams rib to create Eve and not make her in the same way he did Adam is because he made Adam in the image of the water and Eve the blood. They're to come one like the Covenants are to become one.
But the biggest Revelation God had recently given me was that it goes right down to the DNA.We inherit half of our DNA from each parent. The double helix cleaves together and becomes one flesh giving life. The water and the blood gives life.
So even if a man were to rub one out thinking of his wife it is still a sin.
On earth as it is in heaven. You can see the spiritual in the physical world.God is Spirit. When he spoke, his Words were Spirit, and they manifested in the flesh.

I never heard it being a sin for spilling the seed..
What about birth control ( condom). Or "pulling out"?
Or what if I had a vasectomy?

I appreciate you taking the time to explain but I don't follow all of it so not sure how to respond otherwise.

I'm saying that the water alone doesn't lead to life.A man splilling his seed instead of laying with his wife is a sin.In the spiritual sense he is denying the blood.Scripture says not to deny your wife,or don't deny your husband.

I did gather most of that. I just think that it isn't quite that simple and I don't agree with the symbolism of water and blood as you do. But I have enjoyed coming to understand your thoughts on the subject.

I'd rather be conscious of my sin than not acknowledge,or justify it.Personally,I don't think I would pull out,or get a vasectomy. The younger me yeah. The way I see it is that If I got a girl pregnant and talked her into getting a abortion, at that moment it wouldn't have bothered me as much as it would have as I got older knowing Christ.
But I'm single so I don't have to worry about such things lol.

All of this behavior is a bit deviant so it is probably not good/right in the strictest sense. Of course, if there are medical reasons that's different. Birth control can be used to control irregular bleeding and anemia, for example.

Onan's sin was not fulfilling his duty to raise up a son for his brother. The "spilling of seed" was merely the method by which he committed his sin.

For a married couple today, there is no such responsibility, and therefore no prohibition.

I think you're asking the wrong question. You should be asking: How can I exercise more self-control?
