Is that a typo, or not?

I take it that the obedience and love described in the above is implied to be done in the Holy Spirit? That's why I don't always assume that a church believes in a works gospel if they don't spell it out. How does your church word it?

In respect to salvation, which is the defined by their doctrinal statement is mixed with works. They add "faith in Jesus" with "turn from sin."
I took the part about back loading works to be consistent with the first point about obedience to the law, which Galatians rebukes, when they say "turn from sin", which is another way of saying the same thing.

1+1=2

Ro.ans 11:6
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."

They are coming up with the wrong answer. Paul answered, Acts 16:30 31

"And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

I absolutely. totally and completely agree. So few come to see this "backloading of works" as the false gospel it is.

When a person gets saved, they are then commanded to grow in love and obedience, and if persecuted to persevere, but that is a condition of subsequent grow that may or may to varying degrees occur. I keep the many things that follow salvation, which are prescribed for believers only, separate from the grace only gospel when speaking to unbelieving sinners.

I left a church and major career over this issue because I noticed that this all important issue was getting twisted by my Baptist friends and acquaintances. After studying this topic for myself I found clarity and left the confusion behind.

7...Minutes into this video, he brings up one important issue everyone should consider.
After that comment praising Ravi Zacharias, the script has the fake Jesus actor quote the Book of Moron. "I am the law of Moses!"
That demonstrates right there that this series reflects the Mormon anti christ rather than the true Jesus Christ.

I checked the doctrinal statement of this guy's church and the point I want to point out is this quote.

"Salvation
Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was the sole and complete payment for sins, fully satisfying God’s righteous wrath, for each person that turns from sin in repentance.... Genuine faith continues in obedience and love for Jesus Christ with a life eager to glorify God and persevere to the end."

These make the works of each sinner as the means of salvation. It also makes works, "obedience, love, eager life, perseverance to the end," as their proof of those who have their works plan of damnation. Thus they front load their dogma with the Book of Mormon repentance of turning from sin, and backload the rest of the burden on the sinner with those mentioned in my previous sentence.

Why is it that I'm not surprised that an "evangelical" yoking together with a cult of Mormons is an unbeliever himself?

Good point and agree.
I have done more digging since this initial web site.
It only gets worse, the characters in the show call John the Baptist "creepy John."
The character who plays Jesus is a Knights Templar does the grave soaking stuff..
and more...

Christians not only watching this trash (no apology on my adjective) but defend it and then turn around and attack those who bring the information to light.
Isn't that just wonderful where the church is these days, no discernment, no critical thinking skills, no analysis, just let me be entertained please.

So the Creepy John and a member of Knight's Templer? Wow, I knew many actors were eccentric, but never heard of a modern Knight's templer! Crazy cast connections there.

I used to have a friend who left the Knights of Columbus though. Lol.

I'm not against all entertainment of course, But I can see why the Devil has been focused on it. It's no secret that he uses certain alphabet agencies to influence movies, and music industries. It looks like I learned something new from your Real Talk video post. It looks like the LDS owns, what was it, over half the rights to the series? If that's correct, then it's no wonder they are inserting quotes from Joseph Smith.

I don't think there was much information available about the series or Jenkins at the beginning, or few Christians would have have gotten into watching it. After getting attached to a drama or a music group, it's tough for the average person to cut those things off altogether. We should though.
You are right, we should all be discerning.
At least you made it known.

Personal example:
Because of close relationships with church members and a major investment of my life, it took a while to finally bite the bullet and disassociate from the church that I found to mix works and grace back then.
I was in good standing with the pastors and voiced my concerns from the Bible with them, but that never persuaded them.
I would rather stand with the Lord than a group of pastors that disagree any day.

So I am going to ask is this image all we have to say the show supports PRIDE?
They support their cast and crew being free to hold whatever views they have.
IOW, they treat their employees with respect regardless of differing views.

a little flag like that, if it is not a doctored image, was probably personal property of a crew member on their kit
Exactly! .:)

That is not a quote from the book of Moroni. See this post for clarification .:D

Thank you for the link.
I know you to be a diligent student of the Bible. No doubt moreso than the man who is at question.
I will study this issue further as soon as I get time.🙂

Thank you, and yeah, the controversy seems to have become as much or more about who
Dallas Jenkins is than the series itself. I was just going to make a post about that to @Eli1
.:)

I have to find the post of his I want to quote to do so... it may be in the other thread...

I think the ”problem“ is, and this is hilarious, but some Christians are upset that other Christian’s first steps into God are though a movie.

The general sentiment here seems:  NO. I found God this way (gives personal example).
How dare you find God through a movie? You have to find God the way I found Him.
Blasphemy!

I wonder if The Ten Commandments (<= wiki link on the film) garners such censure from Christian quarters .

It airs annually on U.S. network television in prime time during the Passover/Easter season since 1973.

It’s not a post, it’s the sentiment of all people who hate this movie.
‘And that’s another thing into itself because we’re debating about a movie, not God. Lol

How do you know it is the "sentiment of the people" and how do you know they "hate" the movie if there is no post to substantiate your comment?

It could it be you are projecting onto people what you think they are feeling?

So no one really has made those statements it is just you reading through your own biased filter, that is really unfortunate that you have such strong bias for a show you would accuse fellow Christians of things that were never stated.

The issue is do we support something that is not the authentic biblical Jesus whether there are positive results or not?

lol Let me hash this out for you and I mean this with honesty because I like discussing things with you in other topics .

Right now, you yourself did the thing I just said.
Basically what everyone says (including you right now) is that : this isn’t the Jesus of the Bible.
Yes we know that! I know that !
Also I know that this is a movie.

So now the real issue is that you don’t like people who watch this show and turn to God (like many atheists have done) because it’s not the same as the Bible.

Is this how you found God for the first time in your life? Through the Bible? Guess what? Many haven’t. They found God through a million different things and then they went to the Bible later.
So, what is your problem with people who find God in different ways from yours?
