John, Chapter 14:1 - 5

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Note: Jesus says "WHERE I AM" not where I will be.........where is He? In heaven!

John 17:24

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Note: Jesus says "be with me where I AM" NOT where I will be. Where is Jesus? In heaven.......

Our eternal home is IN HEAVEN where Jesus has prepared a place for us in Gods Kingdom, and WHERE HE IS, so shall we be for all eternity............

1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 18

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Corinthians 15:51,52

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

When that last trump sounds, and the eastern sky splits, and Jesus returns in clouds of glory with the saints who have gone before, THAT IS IT! All that remains is the Judgement...........

It seems as though you are presenting the Rapture and the Second Coming as one event. And that is simply not the case. In fact, it would be an absurdity.

The event in Heaven that you are referring to here is the Wedding of the Bridegroom (Jesus) and the Bride (Church). This Event shall indeed take place in Heaven. It shall last about seven years and then we, the Bride Church, shall accompany Jesus back down to Earth at the time of His Second Coming. We shall then reign on Earth with Him for 1000 years. At that time God shall release the Evil One from his pit for one final brief rebellion. We shall then see the Great City of New Jersalem descend down from out of Heaven and that shall be our final Home.

Some people believe the Earth will be renovated and the saints will be there forever but it is not true.

Jesus went away to prepare a place which is in heaven so that is where the saints will be forever.

Also the earth has been tainted with sin and all sin must be purged with fire which the Bible says the Earth shall be burned up with fire, and the works of it, and heaven shall melt with fervent heat.

The place that Jesus went to prepare is the new heaven, and new earth, the New Jerusalem where the saints shall be forever.

The New Jerusalem will be a place where sin has never been, and sin will never be.

The former earth shall not be remembered, nor come to mind, which the angels, and people will remember nothing prior to the New Jerusalem for it is associated with sin and rebellion, and will feel that they have always been there and nowhere else.

There is another interpretation that you might consider. In the Thessalonians passage the word "meet" was actually used for townspeople who would go out to meet a visiting king and welcome him back to their town. Combine your passages with Revelation 21 and 22, where God makes a new universe (21:1) and then sends the new Jerusalem, symbolizing the Old and New Testament people of God, down toward the new earth, where the Triune God rules with his people.

Only seven years. It is the place of the Wedding Feast and Bridechamber.
