Of this I will only say that the Father is a Spirit (John 4:23-24) and there is one Spirit (Ephesians 4:4).![]()

God gives rain to the just and the unjust. We are to love our enemies. Bless those that curse us. Pray for those who persecute us. I left out do good.Blessing to a wacked out dude?
Amen, that's what I try to do, anyway.God gives rain to the just and the unjust. We are to love our enemies. Bless those that curse us. Pray for those who persecute us. I left out do good.
Love, bless, do good, and pray are the only 4 options. Who knows? If we actually start acting like Jesus God might do some incredible things.
Is this a response to post# 563?I think you have it backwards. We believe and then we do. Abraham believed God, then acted. He didn't act and then believe.
Salvation is a spiritual reality. We are changed inwardly and that is reflected outwardly.
Noah received grace. God told him of the coming judgment. The fact that he believed God is reflected in his building the ark.
So it is with us. We hear the gospel and believe God and respond in repentance and obedience.
Blessing to a wacked out dude?
Yes indeed.![]()

Communion also is not a work. It is a sacrament. There is grace imparted in communion as well. But we are also commanded to do it.
et me guess. It only works when someone like you understands scripture differently then the intended meaning and only in your mind.
I see you also have a case of the false accuser...saying I am irked if someone is saved. You know who else like to falsely accuse? Here is a hint. He tried to take God's place.
I saw that you took your "x" off the table. Going to put it on again now that I posted this?Your disagreeing, Ted, doesn't make it any less true.
Baptism in Jesus' Name is not a work but a point of contact for faith (like Paul's handkerchiefs).Works are things we do. Obeying commands are Works. And thus, unfortunately, you have a gospel of works. The only thing necessary on our part is faith.
I've told you a number of times. The previous verses are evidence of their faith. When they heard this...heard what? The gospel. Faith comes by hearing.
They heard and believed and so acted.. what shall we do? Repent and be baptized.
They believed, then responded. No different than Abraham. He believed God so he acted. No different than Noah. God told him of the impending judgment and he believed God and acted. And the same is true of anyone who gets saved. The word of God is made known, the individual believes God, and responds in repentance and obedience.
And I have told you a number of times, that if someone isn't saved, and then receives baptism in Jesus' Name, they will receive "remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost" (salvation).
Just want to remind everyone of something that was spoken of earlier...I know what you have said. I just showed you the way to reconcile Ephesians 2 and Acts 2. You just refuse to accept it.
At any rate, I wish you the best. Grace and peace.
Just like eating is not a work.Communion also is not a work. It is a sacrament.
You don't understand what a picture is? A symbol is not the reality, but is a picture of the reality. The remission of sins is signified, but not procured in the waters of baptism. I'm not obsessed with water baptism at all. Baptism is a symbol of salvation in that it pictures Christ's death, burial and resurrection and our identification with Him in these experiences. In reality, believers are literally saved by what baptism symbolizes--Christ's death, burial and resurrection."Water baptism is merely the picture of the reality."
What does this mean?
"Spirit baptism is the reality."
Spirit baptism by nature is metaphysical and cannot be used as a reference point in our reality. Water baptism is by nature physical and hence is used by the scriptures as the ordained moment in time for the forgiveness of sins.
Water baptism for the remission of sins is not a "picture" but simply a point of contact with the grace of God.
Water baptism for the remission of sins is a rather straight forward concept.
It seems you are the one obsessed with water baptism.
