God sent His Son to die in my place. I will be damned to think my actions are unto His salvation . God sent the perfect Lamb to the Cross shed His blood for the remission of sins . I will never put getting dunked in a river on the same , or as some here, above the Blood of Jesus. We are saved by
Grace Eph_2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Not even our faith, but His gift.
Eph_2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Gal_6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
I will not glory in the river dunking nor what is called the Baptism of the Holy Spirit of 40+ years ago.

Col_1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Again, what is the message that is being conveyed by the verbiage used in Acts 2:38? You seem rather emotionally attached to faith alone regeneration theology. Relax, Acts 2:38 does not negate your verses. It is that point of contact to "the riches of the glory" that the Bible speaks of.

Peter knew very well what he was trying to convey when he wrote:

38 ‘Turn back!’ replied Peter. ‘Be baptized – every single one of you – in the name of Jesus the Messiah, so that your sins can be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the holy spirit.

There is no "glory" in baptism.
But you seem to "glory" in your defense of faith alone regeneration theology.
Beware to not fall into the error of the Pharisees.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says we are saved by grace through faith. You are saying Acts 2:39 says we are saved in baptism. How do you reconcile the 2?
Okay, I think I know where you are going. You believe that these two verses negate each other.
They do not.
Ephesians 2:8-9 is written in the general and Acts 2:39 is written more definitive.
We are saved by the grace of God but grace by nature is an abstract concept.
Baptism is a noun and is part of our reality. Baptism is the means of God's grace.

IOW baptism is much like the blood put on the door posts of the Hebrews.
The blood itself did not stop the Angel of Death but the blood was the reality of the grace of God.
Those that applied the blood could not boast but in the power of the blood.
But to not physically apply the blood would have led to the lack of God's grace.

I hope this helps.

All too often what gets reported as heresy is not, but I routinely find heretical posts that have never been reported.

Heresies (not all inclusive):
Rejection of the Deity/Eternality of Christ
Universalism (everyone ends up in heaven eventually)
Rejection of the Omniscience/Omnipotence/Omnipresence of God
Rejection of the Trinity
And of course, my thread on the Trinity is not a rejection of it.

Back in post 510 (i think) i posted Acts 2:38 never crossed my mind to think one scripture negates another they work in harmony. Maybe you have not read this ugly thread if you think the attempt to glorify water baptism has not elevated to above the Glory of The Cross of Christ . The Scriptures are in harmony we people mess them up.

Water baptism is merely the picture of the reality. Spirit baptism is the reality. You ignored the circumcision made without hands in context. You are absolutely obsessed with water baptism.
I want to make certain that as many others as possible will do what it takes to receive "remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost".

Yes, Spirit baptism is the reality; and it is absolutely promised to those who receive water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.

I think you have it backwards. We believe and then we do. Abraham believed God, then acted. He didn't act and then believe.
Salvation is a spiritual reality. We are changed inwardly and that is reflected outwardly.
Noah received grace. God told him of the coming judgment. The fact that he believed God is reflected in his building the ark.
So it is with us. We hear the gospel and believe God and respond in repentance and obedience.

There is grace in baptism and baptism is not a work; as I have posted on previously in this thread.

Baptism in Jesus' Name is not in absence of the glory of the Cross of Christ.

For, to be baptized is to identify with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Works are things we do. Obeying commands are Works. And thus, unfortunately, you have a gospel of works. The only thing necessary on our part is faith.
I realize you will not accept this explanation or anything else I have said. But hopefully those who have been following along will be bolstered in their faith and more able to give a defense of the gospel.

Of course, when they were baptized in Acts 2:37-41, they repented first.

That would indicate faith in Peter's message; yet they were not saved until after they came up out of the water.

Why? because baptism in the name of Jesus is "for the remission of sins" and the Holy Ghost is also promised as the result of fulfilling the promise.

Look at Acts 19:1-7 and you will see the beginning of the Ephesian church...
baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was not absent from the equation.
Water is not mentioned in Acts 19:1-7...

Again, you, in saying that baptism is a work, you are saying that in order to deny the plain meaning of Acts 2:38-39, which teaches us that when we repent and are baptized in Jesus' Name, we can receive remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost (which is salvation).

Since salvation is the result, such baptism cannot be a work.

Otherwise scripture contradicts scripture.

That would be so if it said we are saved by grace through baptism. It doesn't. It says through faith. Their repentance and obedience were born out of their faith.
