Jesus is the perfect example of love.

The law is founded on love.

If we were all 100% loving we wouldn't need a law.

But we are all sinners and all of us have fallen short of the glory of God.

When the Holy Spirit controls our actions and thought we do not transgress the law.
Jesus was never selfish and always obeyed the Spirit.
Jesus perfectly obeyed the 10 commandments.

Rom 8:1-5
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Rom 13:8-10 KJV 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love is the fulfilling of the law... love thy neighbour as thyself is a summary, a brief summary of the law.

It should be written on the heart, it is spiritual. Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
You wrote "for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."

Love is not the result of not stealing.

You are confused.

You wrote two contradictory statements.

"Love is the fulfilling of the law", which means, do this law and that's love.

Then you wrote, "for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." Which means love others and that fulfills the law.

Two very different ways of Christian living. One is legalism, don't transgress. The other is, love others and you can't transgress.

You can't see the difference between your two statements?

Getting back to the question.

How does a christian keep the sabbath holy?

By prayer and suplication.

Ask God to guide you and study the treachings He has already given.

But Jesus is the best example.
Phi 4: 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
You constantly transgress the law, while saying that you obey the law. You won't get away with that.

I am not under the law and cannot transgress the law.

You are under the law, hence, you transgress the law.

I didn't write it.... Paul did.

Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

If Paul is contradicting himself take it up with him.

I follow Gods word not mans ideas.

God said to not sin.
The motive why can cause legalism, but not sinning is not legalism.
If the Spirit of God leads me to not sin and i obey because i love God it is not legalism.

Should you even keep the Sabbath day? And if so, how you should keep it is then the question.

Is there one covenant or two covenants? Is there one God or two Gods? Is the God of the Old Testament different from Jesus in the New Testmanet? If they are separate and distinct is the God of the Old Testament mean and unloving? Is Jesus a much better God?

I could feel the rest of my space with scriptures, but I'm not going to. Most Christians have already made up their minds on the matters addressed here. To believe that the "law" is negative and "love" is positive and the "law" is legalism and "love" is freedom. But the question becomes freedom from what the Old Testament instructs or freedom to love the LORD/YHWH my salvation/Yeshua with all my heart, soul, and mind.

What is your fruit? Salvation/Yeshua is the root of our faith. Keeping laws is the fruit of who you have faith in.

Hebrews 8:13 By speaking of a new covenant, He has made the first
one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with them (THE PEOPLE - NOT THE COVENANT), he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a (RE)new(ED) covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

WHAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST COVENANT GIVEN AT PENTECOST ON MT. SINAI (1379 BC) AFTER THE EXODUS FROM EGYPT? THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS NOT GIVEN!!

The new covenant is the old covenant with the exception that Jesus said He would send the comforter and helper, the holy spirit.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Hosea 1:9 Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.
Hosea 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

Hosea 2:23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

Romans 9:25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
Romans 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

The New (renewed) covenant is for all of Israel. The covenants are all about the Marriage contract with YHWH/LORD who divorced the house of Israel and has promised to remarry her. Only through the flesh can one die and thus YHWH came as Immanuel God with us in Yeshua/Salvation/aka Jesus who was alive, died and resurrected for His Bride (aka the whole world).

You constantly transgress the law, while saying that you obey the law. You won't get away with that.

I am not under the law and cannot transgress the law.

You are under the law, hence, you transgress the law.
I don't say that.
I am a sinner that need Jesus. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

If i say "i have no sin" I'm decieving myself.

1Jn 1:8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Rom 2:11-13
11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Rom 7:7-10
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

You can take the law away and you can claim that your without sin because no law is condemning you.
But that a trick of the devil.
You can be free from the condemnation of the law through Christ and not condemned by the law because of His grace but that doesn't remove the law.

Thank God for free redemption by the blood of Jesus.
But thank God for the law to reveal what sin is.

Do you understand that there are different laws?

Compare Moses Law and
God's Ten Commandment Law
MANY people often confuse Moses Law with God's Ten Commandment Law, but they are very different.
Moses' law was the temporary, ceremonial law of the Old Testament. It regulated the priesthood, sacrifices, rituals, meat and drink offerings, etc., all of which foreshadowed the cross. This law was added "till the seed should come," and that seed was Christ (Galatians 3:16, 19). The ritual and ceremony of Moses' law pointed forward to Christ's sacrifice. When He died, this law came to an end, but the Ten Commandments (God's law) "stand fast for ever and ever." Psalm 111:7,8.
There are two laws that are made crystal clear in the following verses below. Daniel 9:10 is talking about God's law and verse 11 is talking about Moses' law:

Please note that God's law also called the Ten Commandments or moral law has existed at least as long as sin has existed. The Bible says, "Where no law is, there is no transgression [or sin]." Romans 4:15. So God's Ten Commandment law existed from the beginning. Men broke that law. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4 Because of sin (or breaking God's law), Moses law was given (or "added") till Christ should come and die, Gal 3:16,19. Two separate laws involved: God's law or Ten Commandments and Moses law.
To summarize the above. When God led the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, He delivered to them in fiery majesty the Ten Commandments. This Holy law was spoken by God, written by God, recorded on tables of stone, and is of eternal duration. At the same time the ceremonial law, of temporary usage, was also delivered to the children of Israel. This law dealt with the ceremonial rites of the Jewish sanctuary service, and concerned itself with a system of religion that passed away at the cross. Large sections of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy describe in detail this temporary law. The ceremonial law can easily be identified in scripture. It talks about circumcision (a religious Jewish rite), sacrifices, offerings, purifications, holy days and other rites associated with the Hebrew sanctuary service.

Moses' law.
1. Called "Law contained in ordinances"
EPH. 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.
2. Written by Moses in a book
2 CHRON. 35:12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.
3. Placed in the side of the ark
DEUT. 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
4. Ended at the cross
EPH. 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.
5. Added because of sin
GAL. 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
6. Contrary to us, against us
COL. 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.
7. Judges no man
COL. 2:14-16 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
8. Carnal
HEB. 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
9. Made nothing perfect
HEB. 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

• The 10 Commandments.
1. Called "the Royal law"
JAMES 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
2. Written by God on stone
EXO. 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
EXO. 32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables
3. Placed inside the ark
EXO. 40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:
4. Will stand forever
LUKE 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
5. Points out sin
ROM. 7:7 What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
ROM. 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
6. Not grievous
1 JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
7. Judges all men
JAM. 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
8. Spiritual
ROM. 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
9. Perfect
PSALMS 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

There is a lot the Bible admonishes us to Not Do on the Sabbath. My dilemma is what can we DO? I spend some time in prayer, some time reading the Word, and then I am stumped. I physically cannot sit around all day and end up just doing things (renovations on house etc) that are self-serving. What is acceptable to God on this day? What sort of things do YOU do to keep the Sabbath?

Nowhere in the Word has the Seventh Day been changed to the first day of creation..

The laws that are yet to be observed are now inscribed upon our hearts, not on stone, therefore we know the T"en Commandments are of Love, and our Maker is Love.

Jesus, Yeshua, teaches, if there is not mercy in the law, we may consider that law forgone.

The Old Testament Christian should be the same as the New Testament Christian for the law and the prophets point to Jesus Yeshua.. After all we are the True Israel of God, by translation
Whereas in the Old Testament, God commanded, in the fourth commandment, to keep the 7th day as a day of rest. In the New Testament, we find that Jesus is our rest. Read this set of scriptures.

Hebrews 4:1-11 Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS"; 5 and again in this passage, "THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST." 6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS." 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. 11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

God bless you,
Wayne

Numbers 15:29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

Yeshua/aka Jesus did not change the law by adding or removing anything from the "LAW". The apostles and disciples were also under the same commandment that they cannot change, by adding or diminishing/removing any of the law/commandments.

Yeshua/aka Jesus called those Jews who added to the LAW Hypocrites.

The wall of separation was the Jews addition to the their LAW that a Jew could not associate with a non-Jew. Yeshua/aka Jesus said not so. In Christ there is no wall of separation. However, I see in many posts what appears to be a fear or loathsome attitude towards anything considered "Jewish". Christians have much to learn from Jews.

Zechariah 8:23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Moses never authored anything, but he did write down much. Otherwise the Bible would not be entirely the Word of God.

Zechariah 8:23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
We are planly told that we shouldn't add or take away from Gods word.

But do you see the plan evidence that God added a law because of sin. And that when Jesus came it was to be taken away.

Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Gal 3:24-25 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

It plan that we are no longer under this law.

Mat 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

This law has not passed away.....

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Paul said to estabish this law through faith.

These can't be the same law.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Why did God make the sabbath holy at creation. Before Jew or gentile the day was set aside.

I'm not a gentile...
Gal 3:28-29 KJV 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

I'm an heir of Jesus.

Foreshadowing the rest from works for salvation we would find in Christ.

The Lord said for strangers to keep the sabbath.
Isa 56:6-7 KJV 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

It wasn't just for Israel.
The sabbath was made for man, all mankind.

Isa 66:22-23 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

"Shall All flesh come"

We are all one in Christ.
And Christ is Lord of the sabbath
