It is only the blood that washes away our sins. When Jesus was baptized by his cousin John The Baptist it was immersion because it represents going under the water the death and burial, and coming out of the water the resurrection. Baptism does not save remember the 1 thief on the cross who repented who believed Jesus is the son of God was told by Jesus today thou shall be with me in paradise.

There is no guarantee that the thief on the cross had never been baptized.

The fact that he affirmed Jesus' Lordship indicates that he may have indeed been baptized (see Luke 7:29-30).

Luk 7:29, And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
Luk 7:30, But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

He was nailed to the cross he didn't come off the cross to be baptized.

'for' doesn't mean .. makes sins clean..

It's 'because of' or 'in reference to'

The Greek is 'eis' for 'for' which has the above meaning.

But aside from this.. go to the book of John and see how much baptism is mentioned there.

It is mentioned in chapter 3 and 4...it does not need to be mentioned further in the book because the subject has been dealt with.

Also, "for" means "for" as it is rendered in the kjv.

There are those who fulfill the prophecy in 2 Timothy 4:3 by heaping to themselves teachers, in the translators of watered down versions, to tell them what their itching ears want to hear.

I use the KJV.

Baptism by immersion is a work. Works cannot save anyone. The bible is crystal clear on this.

'for' the remission of sins..

A person is saved by believing on Jesus Christ. That is it, that is all.

Mailmandan has this covered.

'for' is like.. 'ive been saved by Jesus Christ, baptism is 'for' this fact.'

That's why it means 'because of', or 'in reference to'

Gotta read the whole context.

Fair enough. All I can say is my interpretation of scripture differs from yours significantly where this is concerned.
