At the retirement village. It sounds like they live there.... but she does all the work while he just sits around playing bowls with the elders...

Proverbs 31 already says that a good woman is hard to find.

That really makes me wonder about the state of Biblical era women, were they that bad? I am sure all of them were virgins when they married and were good with household duties, submissive, etc. What criteria is Solomon using? The Proverbs 31 woman is described as more of a manager, so she would be older. She is also industrious like a workhorse.

Note that looks/external beauty is not mentioned once about the Proverbs 31 woman. Nor is there any mention of sex/marital duties. So, this makes me think she is a bit of an older/mature woman.

But we know Solomon appreciates external beauty; that's why he had a lot of wives and concubines.

In any case, I do think Proverbs 31 describes a role model wife.

I feel Solomon wrote this about an older wife out of respect, in form of admiration. Meanwhile, he was getting a new wife/concubine.

This is one possibility.

However... It could also be that woman was physically beautiful and attractive, but the writer was a more mature person who knew a woman's true value.

I agree the writer knew the woman's true value, but I doubt the woman was youthful (which translates into unattractive and nonsexual in those times). She may have been attractive for a mature women. Proverbs 31 does include "charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, BUT...." so this leads me to think that the woman's beauty was fleeting.

Most likely some (and perhaps even many) were simply wives of convenience for political purposes/alliances.

Don't superheroes have superpowers?
Yes, supposedly so, however, sewing is specifically mentioned...

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked;
so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3:7

:)

Thus, sewing was her superpower.

Hence, they are heroes, but not superheroes.
Don't you dare let some people hear you saying Batman is not a superhero. You would be lynched before you could get a batarang out.

We've had the argument around the dinner table and survived so I'll take my chances.

Have you tried sewing fig leaves before? And depending on what kind of fig it was cos those leaves are ROUGH. Maybe dinner plate fig? But those are all crinkly.

Didnt Solomon have around 600 wives and concubines. Is there a list somewhere, I just wonder how he managed them all. I mean that is just nuts.
