God divided the land by tribe. The tribes divided it by family. He even made provisions that the property would remain with families. God believes in personal ownership, not Communism.

Giving itself is also individual. We are to give back to God a portion of that which He blesses us with. How do we give if everything we have is part of the group?
Yes, we pretend to own what God has provided us and then take pride in handing it to another in need of it...
It is better to share what God has provided than become slaves to those who exploit it.
It is the whole basis of charity, so that those that have can feel less guilty about how their greed affects the havenots.
