It is in the context of….

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Yes the Word of God should always be read in context... too many false doctrines have been manufactured out of one isolating 1 verse here or 1 verse there..

Regeneration simply means to be made alive. It isn't salvation. Salvation occurs when one believes.
I know what regeneration means, and one has to be alive to hear and believe, duh. You got it backwards, one believes after being made alive, dead folks cant and dont believe.

That's one take. But no 2 experiences of salvation are the same.
It is truth that regeneration occurs when a person believes the gospel. Nobody is regenerated before they believe (Eph 1:13).

Amen and Amen.

Being "dead in our transgressions" does not mean a person is unable to believe.
Yes it does. There is no spiritual life , believing is the fruit of having life, the ability to hear.

You're the one who has it backwards (Eph 1:13).

I didn't give an order. You said a person is saved in order to believe. A person must believe in order to be saved.

How do you you reconcile that with Philippians 1:6...He who has begun a good work in you? How is Jesus then the author of your faith?

The good work in us began when we believed.
It is through faith in Christ and what he accomplished that we will be saved.
God is drawing everyone. He wants everyone to be saved, He is not willing that any should perish, He commands all men everywhere to repent (1 Tim 2:4; 2 Pet 3:9; Acts 17:30).

If you believe independently of Christ haven't you begun the good work?

No. God began the good work of providing salvation when He sent His Son.

What's entailed in God's drawing?

Specifically? I cannot say. God works differently in different people.

For me, I had questions. Where did we come from? Why are we here? Is this short life all there is? I wanted to know the truth.

How did God draw you?

Much like you. I had no interest in God. But God used and perhaps orchestrated the circumstances in my life and awakened me to Himself.
I do believe as Romans 3 says none seek after God and thus God must be the one to initiate relationship. But I don't believe He believes for us. What happens between God's initiation and our believing I suspect is much more God than us.

I believe God tries to initiate relationship with everyone. He wants everyone to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

That's a subject that tends to run into great controversy, but Romans 1 does show that God has related to everyone at the level of creation and conscience.
And clearly God has done good for all...Matt 5.

That's right. Everyone is without excuse.
