Since there's a general music thread for the 60's/70's, 80's hits, and good 90's songs, I figure there should be one for the first decade of the 21st century. So let's get started!

As with all the songs I've posted so far, I love this one too. I've seen the official music video for the song, but this fan-made version to me is even better. I've never seen the movie "2012", but the airplane escape scene is absolutely perfect together with the song!

forfeit the game/stop the talk show
product of what/you're taught to know
forfeit the game/'cause tomorrow
when it's all done/you reap what you sow

you love the way i look at you
while taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
you take away if i give in
my life
my pride is broken

you love to think you're never wrong
[you live what you learn]
you have to act like you're someone
[you live what you learn]
you want someone to hurt like you
[you live what you learn]
you want to share what you've been through
[you live what you learn...learn...learn...learn]

you love the things i say i'll do-
the way i'll hurt myself again just to get back at you
you take away when i give in
my life
my pride is broken

you love to think you're never wrong
[you live what you learn]
you have to act like you're someone
[you live what you learn]
you want someone to hurt like you
[you live what you learn]
you want to share what you've been through
(yo)
[you live what you learn...learn...learn...learn]

The problem is we don't have a catchy way to refer to music from that period. We can talk about music from the '50s, '60s, '70s, all the way up to the '90s, but the best we can do for a shorthand version of 2000s is aughts.

Yeah, it didn't look good when I typed out 00's. I thought of 2K's, but I didn't like the look of that either! :)

I love this song. Made goth rock cool!

-=<Evanescence - Bring Me To Life (Official Music Video)>=-
(Released 2003)

(Written by: David Hodges, Amy Lee, Ben Moody)

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb
Without a soul (soul), my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Now that I know what I'm without, you can't just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring (bring) me (me) to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside
Bring me to life

Frozen inside without your touch, without your love
Darling, only you are the life among the dead
All this time, I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a thousand years, it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here, there must be something more
Bring me to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie (bring me to life)
There's nothing inside

Bring me to life

That's from 2014. If you like you can start a new thread on the second decade of the 2000's. There's a lot of music in the first decade of the 2000's so this thread might build up too quickly if the second and third generations are added on to it.

Also why is it that almost every time I post some music, it gets quickly pushed down by someone else's music post? I don't think my music choices are bad. I always let other people's music posts stay on top to be prominent for several days even if I don't like some of those songs.

I've no doubt that Korn's Coming Undone is my most played song from that time frame. That and B.Y.O.B. by System of a Down, but I thought that might not be appropriate for this site.

I was just listening to this, I've listened to it a number of times. Then it hit me, this song is in the era of millennial music. I hadn't even thought about that since I listened to Primus/Les Claypool so much in the 90s that I guess it just fell into the 90s in my mind instead of the era in which it really belongs. Anyway, this is one of my most listened to millennial era songs...
