From what I recall, sickness in NEVER specifically called a "blessing" anywhere in the Bible. It is called a lot of other things, but not a blessing.
Exactly. Therefore God sent Isaiah to Hezekiah to heal him. And Paul and others prayed for Epaphroditus that he would recover from his sickness.

As he was passing by, he saw a man blind from birth.
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus answered. “This came about so that God’s works might be displayed in him
~ John 9 (CSB)

2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
~ James 1 (CSB)

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I keep your word.

68 You are good, and you do what is good;
teach me your statutes.

69 The arrogant have smeared me with lies,
but I obey your precepts with all my heart.

70 Their hearts are hard and insensitive,
but I delight in your instruction.

71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I could learn your statutes.

72 Instruction from your lips is better for me
than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
~ Psalm 119 (CSB)

Blindness is not a sickness but a disability. In any event this blind man was healed. Indeed there was not a single person who came to Christ for healing and was not healed. And many did not even come to Him or believe on Him, and yet they were healed.

You are uniquely skilled at splitting hairs.

To be healed is a blessing. One you cannot know had you never needed healing.
Sometimes the blessings are not for the one who is healed, but for those around them.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.

4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort
we ourselves receive from God.

5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer.

7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, so you will also share in the comfort.

8 We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed—beyond our strength—so that we even despaired of life itself.

9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.

10 He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and he will deliver us. We have put our hope in him that he will deliver us again

11 while you join in helping us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gift that came to us through the prayers of many.

Not always, there are several sicknesses which are leading to blindness. F.e. glaucoma

True enough. But those things are for the here and now.

In the sinless Kingdom to come, how then are people to understand that they have been blessed?

I'm 70 and have suffered health issues yet I trust the Lord to do with me as He will, in sickness or in health, in wealth or in poverty, and in joy or in sorrow. I know I have an appointed time to die and I want to go when the Lord wills.
Amen! Kinda like our apostle Paul, eh?:

"And HE {CHRIST} Said Unto me, MY GRACE Is Sufficient For
thee: For MY Strength Is Made Perfect in weakness. Most gladly
therefore will I rather glory
{cp} in my infirmities, that The
Power Of CHRIST May Rest Upon me!"

(2 Corinthians 12:9 KJB!) {cp 2 Corinthians 11:23-30 KJB}

Precious friend (70 😇), A Very Warm Welcome To Chat.

God created us, and God is truth. Science tries to discover the truth of God, and sometimes they get it right. Science has proven that when we put the truth and beauty of scripture into our brains, it promotes healing in the body. Science has also proven that keeping our muscles tense as a result of anxiety and fear promotes sickness.

scripture teaches faith, security, hope, and love. These things are the opposite of sickness.

Paul never prayed to GET SICK. He was only recorded as praying to be healed. For himself and and others as well.
Is any sick? If so, here is some advice:

James 5:14
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Let’s say sickness CAN be a blessing, I would agree to that
That is completely False Doctrine ---and people should Run from anyone preaching such nonsense -----

The Scripture clearly says FOLKS ----that Jesus Bore all our sicknesses and disease on the Cross ----so you either believe that Or you Don't -------the Stripes Jesus took on His back purchased back our Health ------

BY HIS STRIPES YOU ARE--Healed ____YOU ARE ----IS PAST TENSE --FOLKS -------your already healed ------you have to BELIEVE that and RECEIVE that -------

It is up to US to keep stress ----anxiety ---fear ---doubt ----and any other cares of this world out of our Lives ----this is what causes Sicknesses and Disease today -------for believers ------not GOD

Jesus defeated Satan on the Cross------- so we need to keep our gate closed to Satan's attacks on our minds ------

There are Sicknesses and Diseases brought on by Satan -------Paul and Job experienced this ----God allowed Satan to inflict these two -----

Paul ask God 3 times to take away his affliction -----and what did God say to Paul -----MY GRACE IS Sufficient ----in your weakness my Grace is your Strength ------We can call on God's Grace to see us through what Satan afflicts on us ----

Job was restored to HEALTH and to more than He started with in the end of his affliction by Satan --------

What is the Greek meaning of infirmities?
:--disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness.

Greek/Hebrew Definitions. Strong's #769: astheneia (pronounced as-then'-i-ah) from 772;
feebleness (of mind or body); by implication, malady; morally, frailty:--disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness.

Believers need not to be ridden with Sickness and Disease ------if they are they are allowing stress ---anxiety ---doubt ==fear ---phobias etc into their thought life -----and causing their immune system to fail ------

Stress ---Anxiety ---etc ----causes DIS___EASE in the Body -----and sickness and disease can take over ------

GOD Does Not cause sickness and disease to be a Blessing to anyone -----

you cannot serve your neighbour when your home sick and ridden with disease ------Believers are called to serve others -----Health ----wellness and wholeness comes from having peace in your body --mind and Spirit -----

It is to show that faith must be consistent, to keep trusting God whether times are good or bad.
Excellent point !

Job’s sufferings was of God to instruct, chasten and to humble him.

1Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

2I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

3Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

4Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

6Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Job 42:1-6

It is to show that faith must be consistent, to keep trusting God whether times are good or bad.
I believe ultimately that everything in our life is designed to bring us into a more intimate relationship with God.
Increasing our faith is one aspect of that. It did so for Job...see Job 13:15. Though He slay me, I will trust Him.
But there is more. Job 42:5 says I had heard of Thee with my ears, but now my eyes seeth Thee. I don't think Job actually saw God. I believe God revealed Himself to Job in such a way as the difference of his understanding and experience was as if he was blind and now he could see.
In other words, our brains receive about 15% of its sensory information from hearing. It receives 80% from the eyes. If you were blind all your life and could suddenly see, imagine how your experience and understanding of the world would change. Now imagine that happening to your spiritual sight. How different would your understanding and experience of God be?
This only comes as a result of difficulty. That's why James says count it all joy when you fall into all types of trials. We don't enjoy the difficulties. But we can endure them well knowing the end of them is a deeper and more intimate relationship with God.

Psalm 18:30 KJV

As for God, his way is perfect:

the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
