What part of I understand but do not care to venerate anything on this earth do you not understand?
What part of "look at how different Christ's advent was to the vanity of human kings" makes you think anyone here is idolizing a painting or calling Jesus effeminate?

I don't think the intent of the OP was to get into silly arguments like this lol

clearly the hatred some people have for art prevents them from talking about Christ.

Jesus said we should worship God in spirit and in truth. That is what I go by and I don't art history lessons by those wanting to assume a superior understanding.

As a Fine Art major some years back, I am not impressed. I have probably used many methods described in the creation of the icons myself.

Thanks for the response. Does the Eastern Orthodox Church have a "Pope"?
No. Each orthodox country has a Patriarch.

What is their view of eschatology?
1) Do they understand the "rapture of the Church" as a fact (pre-trib)?
2) Do they understand the future redemption of the nation Israel?
3) Do they recognize that that the Church age (this age) is unique and limited in time span?
I do not know the answer to those questions. I'm sorry. I know that the end of the world is preceded by certain signs: 1.) the predication of the gospel to all nations, 2.) the conversion of the Jews to Christianity, 3.)the multiplication of sin and lawlessness, the lack of love between people, 4.) the coming of Enoch and Elijah, 5.) the coming of the Antichrist, 6.) the sign of the Cross on the sky.

You see, I am presently not attending Church. As I have yet to find a pre-trib rapture, premillennial Church that is NOT ecumenical (the true Church is built up one-by-one, not by "absorbing" any other corpus or group or so-called denomination).
... the first Church comprised Jews and Gentiles (ex-pagans), not perfect Christians brought in with an ark from another planet. Their lives and habits have been Christianized.

And of course Mary being the number one icon venerated by both Orthodox and Roman Catholics.

I already said that I am a Fine Art major. See how terribly wrong you are?

Here is one of my paintings to prove what I say. Signature erased. Acrylics on canvas but I work in other mediums also and sell my work. I also do murals. I don't expect an apology. smh

Thanks for the response. I do think that there are truly saved individuals in the EOC. But honestly they should "up their game" if they are not expert in the matters the Scriptures speak to in these times.

BTW....Jewish converts "now" in the Church age are Christians. Those redeemed AFTER the Tribulation (imminent IMO) remain Jews. But redeemed Jews who have new hearts and renewed (and obedient) minds. And fulfill their original purpose.....as Gods representatives on the earth, a holy nation and kingdom of priests. Ministering to the gentile nations who survive the tribulation.

Exo 19:6
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

I try...I really really do, not to argue but some people in this forum seem to have the problem of always being right. Especially when they are wrong.

So very very tired of the arrogance and assuming of some here

sitting side-saddle is a good way to fall off your horse if you are riding into battle.

View attachment 250181

here is a 6th century BC vase showing the greek deity Hepaestus riding side-saddle on a donkey. in this case the mythology is that he is crippled - so he cannot ride astride.

other ancient images also women sidesaddle - so there is evidence of a very old tradition of those who are meek and lowly in the world depicted this way, not just women for the sake of dignity as we see later in medieval periods & the renaissance.

Do we know Christ was riding side saddle, I have seen pictures Him straddling the colt.
I think we really do not know how He was sitting. Artists like to depict their interpretation that is fine.

Here is a tiny sample of what you are "missing out on". I very much doubt that you will ever obtain to this sort of teaching in the EOC or practically any other Church anywhere. This kind of understanding comes from "gathering your own manna" so to speak. Sweat equity.

Frankly I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to learn and know these magnificent truths. Thanks the @TheDivineWatermark

Medieval art is so boring... Unless it's stained glass; then it's the bomb.

Actually the topic of the progression of Medieval art is an interesting study. That period of history was marked by particularly good climactic conditions BTW. Which led to social advancement.

Thanks for the info on your original post. You're also very gracious under fire. God bless you always as we celebrate this coming Easter! :)

Yes. I did say that. I used "feminine" as an adverb for the verb "to sit", not as a qualificative adjective for Jesus Christ...
Language, is a mystery to so many who claim to speak.

He didnt have a saddle.
And if you know much about the bodily structure of a colt, be it a donkey or a horse, you know he sat sideways.

How he actually sat isnt the point. The point is the humble position, vs a master of war riding in on a charger with pomp and pride.

Yep. No doubt side-saddle posture. Without the saddle.

I didn't bring up how He actually sat first the OP did so perhaps bring it up to her.

I also already know what you stated. I get it.
