Definitely a long poster here, and people have teased me constantly about it over the years!
But it's just my own posting style. I'm definitely not a good candidate for Twitter, as brevity isn't exactly my specialty.
I find longer posts useful for my own goals on the forum, such as finding the people who don't mind longer, more in-depth written conversations. I also appreciate reading well thought-out posts written by others.
There are times I also like writing a thread title that is actually the opposite or much different from the real topic of the thread, but the audience will only know that by reading the opening post. I understand we're all pressed for time and have limited attention spans, but every now and then, it's interesting to see who's willing to read or write a bit more than the masses. It's not that this is somehow better, it's just that I'm looking for others with a similar communication style. I feel very blessed that I've found a few lifelong friends here whom I've gone on to meet in real life through writing long posts.
But anyone is welcome to answer any thread I put up -- one of my other goals is trying to learn more about the people here.
And I always encourage anyone who doesn't like reading long posts to skip over mine or even put me on Ignore.
But to try to make it easier for the readers, I generally try to ask my main question early on, and then summarize it again at the end of the post so that this is the last thing that sticks in their mind after reading.
