LOL, it's still a tradition.

Name a good tradition?

Tradition learning to cook, do woodwork, and learn the family trade. Tradition do not have to pertain to the whole world LOL I'm sure those living in the desert have different ones then those living on an Island.
You ever give any thought to what will the 7th millennium be like? Will King David and Yeshua/Jesus be ruling together at the same time? Who are those called to be kings and priests? Will we still be preparing to be the bride? Or is there a Queen during this time? What will it be like with no war and all the weapons of war being burned? Eze_39:14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search. Will the unborn be raised up and who will be their guardians? Will there be a mixture of those who were raptured and changed to immortal bodies with those who crossed over into the millennium who were not changed? Yes, I still have many questions and much to learn, but there is no crime in asking and seeking.

How different is the Gentile/Christian from those Jews (even so today in Judaism) have added and taken away from the commandment of God?

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
well for one thing the Gentile and the Christian isn't under Moses.

The Gentile was never given the law and the Christian has died.

Yes of course i agree that God is far greater than any human tradition. but that seems trivial, and wisdom is explicitly not simple. what is this thread really about?
what particular "human tradition" are you upset with?

Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
so you are SDA huh? is that what this is really about?
If that's the case no need to make some pretense about 600, 60, 6.

we are quite familiar with sabbath keeping threads lol

Christ chose the 8th day to rise, Firstfruits, and He never ceased working on a 7th day.

this is something amazing.
it's not accidentally amazing. it's on purpose.

((reads on))

Name the good traditions. If you live in America or Canada perhaps Thanksgiving, but this doesn't pertain to the whole world. Christmas and Easter are also more western and not the whole world. Sunday does not pertain to the whole world. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthday, Grandparent's Day, Nurses Day, Teacher's Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day. But what is the tradition(s) that apply to the whole world. It is "man-made" and draws you away from the LORD/Yeshua (who are one and the same and they do not change). If you have a tradition that you are not saved if you don't speak in tongues, dress a certain way, are repented of your sins, but yet you keep the sins that keep your comfortable traditions, like forgetting the 7th day was made for man, then you are blinded to truth. How many traditions blind us from seeing that we are lost sheep in need of being found and brought back to the fold (12 tribes). You are taught that the Old Testament is of no longer usefull? That is a man-made tradition. Open your eyes and hear the LORD calling you back because He loves you and died and resurrected to bring you home.
Your preaching the law.

G3862
παράδοσις = 666 =
π=80; α=1; ρ=100; ά=1; δ=4; ο=70; σ=200; ι=10; ς=200
paradosis
par-ad’-os-is
From G3860; transmission, that is, (concretely) a precept; specifically the Jewish traditionary law: - ordinance, tradition.

LXX related word(s):
  1. H612 esur - in bondage
  2. H5414 natan ni. - add, apply, appoint, ascribe, assign, etc.

G3970
πατροπαράδοτος
patroparadotos
pat-rop-ar-ad’-ot-os
From G3962 and a derivative of G3860 (in the sense of handing over or down); traditionary: - received by tradition from fathers.

Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

A young couple of newlyweds are preparing dinner. The young wife slices off both end of the roast and then places it in the pan to cook. The husband asked "Why do you slice off both ends of the roast?" She answered, "I don't know, this is how my mother does it." A few weeks later, the newlyweds are at the house of the young wife. The husband saw his mother-in-law slice off both ends of the roast and then place it in the pan. The young man asked his mother-in-law, "Why do you slice of both ends of the roast?" She answered, "I don't know, this is how my mother does it." So a a few more weeks pass, and the newlyweds are at grandma's house for a roast dinner. The young man asks grandma, "Why do you slice off both ends of the roast?" And grandma answered him "Silly boy, to make it fit in the pan."

All I am saying is, question the traditions you hold dear and near. Which one's please the LORD? Which one's are grounded in the Word? Which one's are a mixture of truth and lies? Does it even matter to God?

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Psalms 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Paul speaks of 7 different laws. Can you name them? Can you separate them? Can you understand Paul correctly?

2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Your preaching the law.
It is impossible to discuss God but never let law into the conversation, for God is love and all of God's law is of love.

It is impossible to discuss God but never let law into the conversation, for God is love and all of God's law is of love.
If you place yourself under the law, then you will automatically transgress the law. When you transgress the law, the the wrath of God is upon you.

Romans 4:15
For the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.

So why would following the law carry such a penalty?

Simply because our righteousness is not derived from the law. Our righteousness is not due to how good we can be. We are not righteous because we are obedient.

Back to the start, Jesus is ground zero for our righteousness.

The Christian life is dominated by the Holy Spirit. Everyday, we rely on the Lord to guide us in all our behavior.

Trying to obey the written law is a work of the flesh.

Walking under the law is a constant reminder of your sin. That is what the law will give you. A conviction of your sin and the impending wrath of God.

We are not righteous because we are obedient.
Deuteronomy 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Deuteronomy 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Psalms 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Psalms 119:1 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Psalms 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Ephesians_6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Who doesn't want to be blessed? Keeping the commandments is not for salvation? But it is the fruit of salvation, a desire to please and to show the world at large whose you belong to.

This word is also used for the "traditions of the apostles" which are in fact the teachings of Christ. Paradosis means that which is handed down. Christ handed down His teachings to the apostles, and they in turn handed them down to faithful men. These teachings are NOT manmade but come from God.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. (2 Thess 2:15)

So Christians need to be able to distinguish between the two. Any thing contrary to the teachings of Christ would be manmade, or anything manufactured out of thin air.

Jesus accused the Jews (Pharisees and Saducees) that their man-made traditions was making void the word of God.

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

How different is the Gentile/Christian from those Jews (even so today in Judaism) have added and taken away from the commandment of God?

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Mathewt 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Matthew 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

While "sitting in Moses' seat" the reader, Pharisees did not add or diminish from the reading. When the scroll was taken away, the reader and anyone else in the audience were allowed to comment (midrash).

G3862
παράδοσις = 666 =

LXX related word(s):

  1. H612 esur - in bondage
  2. H5414 natan ni. - add, apply, appoint, ascribe, assign, etc.

Matthew 15:2,3,6;
Mark 7:3,5,8,9,13;
1 Corinthians 11:2;
Galatians 1:14;
Colossians 2:8;
2 Thessalonians 2:15; 3:6.

How many traditions does the Christian faith have that veers from the "scroll" (ie. scriptures)? Can you keep traditions that make void the word of God? The Gentiles were not required to learn everything in one day being read from Moses' seat, but would learn as they returned every Sabbath.

Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Act 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Act 13:45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

Again, I ask, what man-made traditions we Christians have that makes void the word of God? Remember, if it is man-made tradition, it is paradosis/666.

1Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
I tend to agree. The days like Christmas and Easter are astronomical yearly occurrences. Solstice, and a lunar event, I actually can't remember the technical term but it's when the Moon is brightest in the sky for being at its closest to the Earth in its orbit. Now those are not man-made holidays strictly speaking, I've heard out the long boring evolutionary meditation lectures of the self-made capitalist culture too, but even in Artificial Intelligence high culture, so to speak, I have yet to come across anyone who thinks a brother created the Solar System.

It's probably true that too many people spend too much time arguing and debating over the exact days of the year a religious observance is supposed to be celebrated, besides those pagan culture folks who advertise strictly astronomical gatherings for music and an beer tent in the alternative music press.

I believe Christmas and Easter are traditions that are man-made. With Easter we get the silliness of rabbit laying chocolate eggs, easter egg dying, easter egg hunting and sunrise services. Easter is a man-made tradition that replaces The Spring Feasts of the LORD, Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks, Wave sheath day, counting to Pentecost. When you take all of these events out of your service and observance, you are left with diminishing the Word and are not keeping the commandments of the LORD your God.
Deu_4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu_12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Because Jesus kept the Feasts of the LORD, are we not suppose to walk as He walked?

1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Jesus did not take away the Old Testament nor did He create a new religion called Christian. Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, but many have been taught in error that God of the Old Testament and Jesus are two separate entities. And that God of the Old Testament and His commandments are different from Jesus and His commandments.

Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Deu_6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Mat_22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mar_12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Luk_10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Much of these scriptures were not taught in the Protestant church I grew up in. I prayed to understand many of these scriptures, old and new testament, so that I would know truth. I did leave the Christian religion and now have taken a walk in understanding the old and new better. Have I reached full understanding? No way. So many layers to uncover but this I do know: Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: AND Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Do you understand the difference between the two covenants?

The old covenant between Israel and God which was based on obedience to the law.

The new covenant that Jesus established in His own blood.

Luke 22:20
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant in My blood."
