Yes. He forgives them on the basis of the cross. For sins or debts to be forgiven they must be satisfied or paid in full. On the cross Christ died for every sin that is forgiven.
If he forgives as the word forgives means, then why should someone has to go through sufferings, afflictions, pains, crucifixion and death for my sins which he did not commit?
Hello Geophery, our sins are (obviously) a VERY serious matter to our Holy God, so much so that decay and death entered the whole of our realm for the first time as soon as our first parents sinned in the Garden of God.
We can be forgiven of our sins, but that forgiveness is not given to us by God willy-nilly, rather, it comes at a VERY steep price, one that is too high for any of us to pay, in point of fact. As the Book of Hebrews makes plain for us,
Hebrews 9
22 According to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Hebrews 10
4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
So, all of the millions (billions?) of animals that were sacrificed for the sins of the people (in OT Israel) were actually only a temporary measure (a shadow of the Reality that was yet to come), because the only blood that can actually atone for sins belongs to our Savior, who died on our behalf/in our stead on the Cross.
Finally, the fact that we are saved by God's "grace", IOW, by His UN-merited favor towards us, is both true and a misnomer (of sorts) at the same time, because our salvation is HARDLY "unmerited", rather, it's only "unmerited" ~by us~ (in reality, a VERY high price was paid by Another, to pay the penalty for our sins and secure our salvation for us, yes?).

Romans 5
8 God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
It depends on what you did. Grace is the doctrine that your sins can be forgiven, but if you deny grace and don't repent, you can't be forgiven. For example, Judas, Pilate, and others who knew Jesus during his lifetime but conspired against Him in the Temple denying their face-to-face relationships with Him during HIs lifetime and ministry on Earth cannot be forgiven.
He didn't have to. He chose to. But every sin ever committed will be punished by God. And if Jesus doesn't pay for them, that only leaves you.
Yes, God is both righteous and merciful and although that may seem like a contradiction of character, Messiah is "all the fullness of God in bodily form." Through the Messiah's (willingly, no one was or is able to "force" it on Him and neither did his Father) sufferings, afflictions, pains, crucifixion and death, God is both righteousness and merciful in forgiving our sin by accepting Jesus' offering to suffering in our place.
Yup, but that's not the IMPORTANT THING!!!! Jesus died on the Cross as the Perfect SIN OFFERING, that REMOVES SIN for those who place their FAITH in his Sacrifice.
Brother ALL SIN is forgiven!!! Except one!! That one is unbelief! God chose 3 people who wrote most of the Bible, Moses, David and Paul and what did all three have in common??? They were all murderers!! I myself fit into this category. which I sure am not proud of, but I to have a problem believing until my pastor told me what I am telling you. Hence my most important scripture in the Bible is (1 Thess 5:18) I stay in his will daily brother, and I know you will to!! Blessing!!
Why is unbelief not forgiven? It is not unpardonable sin? And we were all in unbelief at one point. If it isn't forgiven, how does anyone enter glory?
What I mean brother is after you become a believer. I should have been more specific, sorry my bad bro. Another words if a believer falls away from the faith.( 1 Tim 4:1-5) and Heb 6:4-6)
EVERY debt, no matter how small or large, MUST be paid by someone.
Someone can owe you $1,000,000. You can "forgive" that debt he owes you. But the debt HAS been pain. In this case, by you.
Since the wages of sin is eternal death, and we are incapable of paying that debt beyond eternal death, then the ONLY way it can be paid (forgiven), is if God pays that debt,
And that's exactly what He did, by ransoming His Son to pay that debt.
That is why it is so offensive to Him when someone tries to pay that debt themselves, by DOING various things, OR, even HELPING Him pay that debt.
A total recognition (sin confession) of our complete inability to pay that debt, and acceptance of the Truth, by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord, raised to life 3 days after purchasing us by paying our debt.
It's more along the lines of pushing God away and choosing to stay in unbelief. Making lame excuses (and from what I have seen in my brief exploration of apostate testimonies- they are all lame) to reject God.
Still, continually rejecting God is forgiven since it's not the unpardonable sin.
You still have people in hell whose sins are forgiven.
My argument isn't that God cannot do this. He is sovereign and may do as He pleases. But I don't see how He can do it and remain just.
