he's a smart guy with no small amount of knowledge; give him grace
I remember him as such. Maybe I just pressed the wrong buttons at the wrong time and got the Baby Ruth instead of the Nestle's Crunch that I was after, Lol.

God bless,

"I'm telling you right now that you will be with me in Paradise."
If that man ceased to exist than he never existed again. best case is an identical copy was later created and deceived into thinking he was the original, and we all likewise believed the lie that the new copy was in fact the actual original man.

If that man exists at any point after his physical demise, he never ceased to exist. all that happened was that he stopped existing in the material, physical world and instead existed elsewhere in some non-physical reality.

If your dog died and I gave you a clone of your dog, would you be satisfied that the clone is the same dog?

Too much of this around here. In two days I've seen no less than three people use this approach.

"Case closed. End of argument. You can't respond anymore because I won. Now go wallow in your corner," LoL. Very difficult to argue with such a powerful, well-reasoned out rebuttal. :)
You had every opportunity to respond. You have failed to do so in a timely manner.
Have you ever been to court? I have many many times. In fact I have an absolutely spectacular case filed right at the moment with a government entity engaged in criminal activity whom I have caught red handed. Suing for 1.6 million in damages (huge in Canada BTW). They desperately tried to dismiss it through all the lower courts all the way to the Supreme Court level. I won every single appeal. This is a groundbreaking case and no joke. Me winning that means every citizen of Canada wins. I have one of the finest lawyers in and all of Canada working my case. He is going to destroy them. Irrefutable prima facie evidence bro.

Point I'm making is that: you don't file in a timely fashion you lose your case.

And when I say "I won my case" let me tell you that I have plenty of experience to back up my assertion.

And just remind you......you lost your case. So has Majenta. If the case ever actually went to court both of you would get wrecked.

People who have died are dead. They will be raised from the dead when Christ returns. If they are not raised from the dead, they have perished. Gone.
Looks like Ecclesiastes is your source for this nonsense. Physical death is the SEPARATION of the soul and spirit from the body. While the body goes into the grave to become dust, the soul and spirit are imperishable. Therefore the righteous dead go to Heaven, and the unrighteous dead go to Sheol/Hades to await their final judgment. And there will be a resurrection unto life (for the righteous) and a resurrection unto damnation (for the unrighteous). Soul Sleep and Annihilationism are false doctrines promoted by the cults. So if you are in one of those cults, they will have many more false doctrines.

Like you claiming a grown man was a little kid and refusing adamantly and repeatedly to admit
it; you have very little credibility, especially when you pound your chest and crow like a rooster
.:giggle:
You don't know me very well. As of this moment I am confronting entities and organizations in the courts that would cause you to wet your diapers. You have absolutely no idea. Like people that would put me in a 6 foot hole in the ground like the movie Goodfellas. Whom, as a civilian, I investigated then caught red-handed committing all kinds of criminal activity, intimidating witnesses, intimidating complainants, attempting to obstruct justice. Audio tapes, videotapes, FOI reports, Privacy Commissioner reports.......the works. Years and years of effort. I was informing directly to the Prosecutor of the Western division, to whom I was directed by the local city prosecutor.

Go ahead.....carry-on like a petulant child. I have got bigger fish to fry.

All of this is presently in the courts.

That day was the thief's day of salvation, the day death's sting would be defused in his case, even though he was to suffer it. From that moment forward, he was written upon the palm of Jesus hand. And don't we still write things on our hand to this day for what reason, so that we not forget whatever it is we write there. And if Jesus, who lives forever will always have us written on His hand or in His mind, then we can never actually ever "not' exist.

The Bible does not teach this. Which cult did you learn it from? Obviously, you will have many more false doctrines.
Of course the Bible teaches this. Where did Stephen go after he was killed? And what does it mean "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"? If you cannot give us a straight answer to that, then you know that you are the one holding on to false doctrines of Soul Sleep and Annihilationism. Before the resurrection of Christ all souls and spirits went to Sheol/Hades. But after His resurrection all the saints to to be with Him in Heaven, and all the unsaved go to Hades.

Ecclesiastes 9:3-6
This [is] an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing [happens] to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness [is] in their hearts while they live, and after that [they go] to the dead. But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun.

yes

Solomon is talking about what goes on 'under the sun' - in our physical existence. he says tge dead ((physically)) have no more part in physical existence: they are forgotten and they do not inherit anything in the world and they don't know *specifically* anything about the fact they will die.

the spiritually dead likewise do not know they will be liable to the second death, they are not written in the book of remembrance, they do not inherit reward, and they have no knowledge of God.

If two dozen other passages refuting annihilation upon physical death didn't exist, then this one passage might rightfully be misinterpreted to mean that when a person or other animal dies, it ceases to exist. but there happen to be many other places in scripture that speak of those who have physically died as though they do indeed still exist, so the meaning of Ecclesiastes 9 must not contradict them.

The straight answer is your logical fallacies have nothing whatsoever to do
with the FACT that the Bible does not teach that the soul is imperishable.

In FACT, the Bible teaches that God alone is immortal.

Shocking how many refuse to accept this.

You have a very long history of refusing to admit error, or be grateful for any correction.

As I said the KJV could use some improvements. Most people are not aware that in the 19th century the Church of England had a plan to make only necessary improvements or revisions to the Authorized Version. But that plan was hijacked by Westcott & Hort and their co-conspirators who changed the Greek Text as well as the Bible. The Revised Version from 1881 was a disgrace and Dean Burgon wrote about it extensively. That version now gathers dust.

There are some Christians who hold to the KJV but do not acknowledge that it could use some improvements. But the King James 2000 Bible (available on Bible Hub) has done a good job in bringing this tried and true translation up to date. Here is Luke 16:23 from that version: And in hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and seeing Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Just want to mention that it warms my heart to see how you have understood the KJV to be, while still the best English translation we have, not 100% perfect or unquestioninable.

Don't take this the wrong way - and I would have just sent you a pm to say so but your privacy settings don't allow it.

I seem to remember you having, years ago, the same position @John146 had - refusing to accept any KJV criticism. @John146 no offense either; we both know each other's positions and i don't want to cause any stumbling just as i know you mean me none either. i can be wrong; i am just presently convinced of my present convictions.

really don't want this to turn into 'yet another kjv thread' but i wanted to mention it.

love you both, John146 & Nehemiah6
We will all know the truth fully one day and for now we all strive towards it

iirc @Magenta does not believe physical death is cessation of existence.
she believes the second death has power to destroy the soul - and she will sure correct me if i'm misrepresenting her!

If the soul is impervious to destruction, and scripture offers, "fear not man who can destroy the body but cannot destroy the soul," then we can conclude that the body can either die of itself or be destroyed. However, the soul cannot be destroyed by any other means but by the judgment of God. This does not lead to the conclusion that the soul is indestructible since God is able to destroy it, nor is it "imperishable" unless the definition of "imperishable" means that it cannot die of itself, as the body does. However, it may be that it is possible that a body can cause it's own soul to perish, even if any other cannot...:coffee:

hmmm does this mean I should fear myself above any other human, because i can bring about the destruction of my soul while others can only kill my body?

but i must fear God above even myself - here we go diving into the security of salvation aaaahhhhh
