No. I never tell him what to do. Communication with God is testimony, asking, praying, praising, ordinary conversing & hoping. And yes, God jokes with us. He's been very comical with me.

Now if you read the next verse you will see where Jesus tells us that whatsoever we ask for believing, when we pray, then it will be given.
I shouldn't have to say this but there is more than one kind of prayer. For example, there's a prayer of Thanksgiving, prayers of intercession, and just like in verse 24, there is a prayer where we just ask God for things.
However I would like to point out that verse 23 is not praying to God but speaking to the object or thing, while verse 24 is praying to God and asking him for whatsoever, and it is written that it shall be given, and I stress the word shall, because if God said, maybe, then you don't know what He will do, which means there is no solid ground to stand on concerning that promise. It would be like laying your foundation in sand rather than in the rock. And it would also cause you to Hope and wonder rather than have faith for God to give or do something about the situation you're praying for.
Back to verse 23. Why would Jesus himself teach us to speak to objects in faith, like he did, if he did not want us to do it?
I am not the first one to come up with this word of Faith theology, Jesus is. And I am just following His lead, and that which is written.

Now why do you want a mountain to be flung into the sea?
To prove God hears you?
To elevate yourself in the estimation of others?
To avoid excavation costs?

If God was so inclined He could use a bunch of power for demonstration purposes that even the unbelievers would recognize....but then He wouldn't be God. God doesn't need anyone....or even a lot of people.
And that's the point....only a wicked generation asks for a sign.

I trust God to look after me and take care of me. It's up to me to work and try to be worthy of the title bestowed upon me and the effort He has gone through to provide me with salvation. Not pester Him for a bunch of magic tricks to prove my relationship with God to others.

God does what He wants, when He wants, how He wants, and for His reasons....not mine or yours. Jesus didn't turn the rocks into bread....but instead got fed later.

Look, it's a very scary thing to have God's attention. None of us are all that good to begin with. Only a fool would think otherwise.
Isaiah got to run around naked for 6 years before he got a prophet's death. Elijah was so miserable and distraught from his trials to where he just wanted to die after calling fire down from the sky. Jeremiah wasn't really all that happy either.

The life of being a prophet of God's is not one of health, wealth, and prosperity....it's heartbreaking and wrenching. Sure there's "magic" and miracles...but emotionally it is extremely taxing.

I didn't get the sense that he was talking about mountain to be flung into the sea.
I don't think we need to do that either. I think it's meant to tell us to rely on God when we're in big trouble which we couldn't handle it.

It is written, herein is my father glorified, that she bear much fruit.
The point isn't in telling God what to do, but the glory God gets through the work he does for you through and by Christ Jesus, who is the living word of God.
 
Guess all the RED Xs means know1 does not have his own jet. Could be he is still learning how to scare and beg monies from old ladies. I dont get the refusal of the WoF guys that come around to go to the hospitals and pray the healing of those ill. They talk this big story yet millions died of covid. Thinking of Kenneth Copland rebuking a storm... what a joke, the weather is sin God's control that clown was rebuking God!

Unlike you, I gave my children, not only the things they needed, but the things they wanted. But more importantly, I taught and gave them love.
It is written, if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall my father, which is in heaven, give good things to them (His children) that ask?

To be clear you don’t tell God what to do in any way your supposed to hear what he says to do and do that, and he promises to bless you
