Hello Gang,
I've long been a student of the prophetic passages in the Bible...have spent years reading studying memorizing all of the passages......fairly recent I was introduced in another chat group to something I had never considered....a discrepancy in the interpretation of a familiar passage...I brushed it off, until recently.....
so here is the passage and the question.

[Dan 9:26-27 ] 26 "Then after the sixty-two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end [will come] with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. 27 "And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations [will come] the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth on the one who makes desolate."

I think it's most likely the Antichrist. To believe it's Christ requires belief in a lot of preterist amillennial nonsense; too much for me to swallow anyway.

“the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.”

It’s a reference to rome who destroyed Jerusalem in 67-70 ad during the great siege of Jerusalem after they killed the messiah.

“The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding:( Israel’s early prophets ) and they would not come.

Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. ( Israel’s latter prophets )

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: and the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.( the nation of Israel’s relationship with the ot prophets )

But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.” ( why Jerusalem was destroyed in ad 67-70)
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:2-7‬ ‭KJV‬

“But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. ( Israel’s treatment of the messiah he was cut off ) When the Lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21:37-41, 43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Daniel was seeing Romes destruction of Jerusalem and it’s temple after they rejected the messiah and killed him

who destroyed Jerusalem and it’s temple just after the messiah was rejected and cut off ? Rome

see Matthew chapter 24 to get a glimpse of the perpetual desolations determined until the end

That "he" is "the prince that shall come" (the Antichrist) AFTER Messiah is cut off. Since Messiah was "cut off but not for Himself" back in AD 30, the prince that shall come will be in the future -- the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition, the Beast of Revelation 13.

Hello Gang,

For most of my Christian years (since 1993) I have believed like many of you, The "he" is reference to a/c but recently leaning toward it as a reference of JESUS.. though ac is immediately referenced also but careful scripture to scripture comparison shows a likely parallel to the crucifixion and the rending of the curtain separating the access to the holy of holies to all access for those trough Christ.

The importance of getting this correct can not be understated! The ultimate issue is the timing (duration) of the 70th week....If we believe that it refers to a/c then a full 7 years according to Daniel remains, if It is Christ, only 3 1/2 years remain....

How does that affect us? Primarily by missing or ignoring SIGNS and events that Jesus in the Olivet Discourse told us to watch for. Furthermore It changes almost all other aspects of what and how to prepare for those of us that will remain during that time.

Actually, it does not affect the Body Of Christ, whom God Removes from earth,
before
the man of sin, son of perdition and Great Tribulation for Israel/nations
occurs:

Pre-Trib Great GRACE Departure I
+
Pre-Trib Great GRACE Departure II

Grace, Peace, And JOY In Christ, And In His Word Of Truth, Rightly
Divided
(+ I and II)! + RICH Blessings

He who is the prince who is to come,

He confirms a covenant with the man

He commits the abomination of desolation (Jesus mentions this in Matt 24)
