I like the first one better because of the clarity in the first post.

The second post , the first rendition also, more catchy, lol.

I know these men personally, not so much the group today, but I do know a couple and their testimonies. Was blessed enough to minister with them several times and share the stage several yrs ago. Sweet people, genuine Christians, and very humble despite their talents. So that being said, they would be my first choice. lol

Eh... I like the original Cathedral recording best.

The first one you posted was Cathedrals, but showing off for the crowd, or maybe for the camera.

The second one, it feels like they don't know anything at all about what they're singing about.

Mind you, that should not be construed as saying Signature Sound is bad. Just that they should stay in their lane.

The Cathedrals' bass singer probably shouldn't sing James Payne songs about coming from a life of drinking and drugs. Ole George ain't been there, so if he sang those songs they would come out flat. And James Payne should probably not sing Lecrae songs. We all have our own row to hoe.

But yeah, if you have to look up what shaped notes were, you probably don't know what old conventions were. (They were HOT, that's what they were. Air conditioning wasn't nearly as popular back then.)
