Sometimes it is incredible when you read about the greed of the temple priest.

Joash said to the priests, "Collect all the money that is brought as sacred offerings to the temple of the LORD--the money collected in the census, the money received from personal vows and the money brought voluntarily to the temple.
Let every priest receive the money from one of the treasurers, and let it be used to repair whatever damage is found in the temple."
But by the twenty-third year of King Joash the priests still had not repaired the temple.
Therefore King Joash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests and asked them, "Why aren't you repairing the damage done to the temple? Take no more money from your treasurers, but hand it over for repairing the temple."
The priests agreed that they would not collect any more money from the people and that they would not repair the temple themselves.
Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid. He placed it beside the altar, on the right side as one enters the temple of the LORD. The priests who guarded the entrance put into the chest all the money that was brought to the temple of the LORD. 2 Kings 12

The King told the priest to repair the Temple. This was a place of worship. The priest pocketed the money, did not use one penny of temple repair. In fact the King removed the priest from having anything to do with the repair of the temple or even collecting the money. I don't understand why GOD didn't do something to the priest.

Why can't people do something about it themselves? Like the king

The King did. He went so far as to remove the priest from having anything to do with working on the Temple, the priest were so corrupt. I don't understand why GOD didn't do something first.

Perhaps the priest was chosen by the king and must be handled by the king himself.

9 Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid. He placed it beside the altar, on the right side
as one enters the temple of the Lord. The priests who guarded the entrance put into the chest all the money
that was brought to the temple of the Lord. 10 Whenever they saw that there was a large amount of money
in the chest, the royal secretary and the high priest came, counted the money that had been brought into
the temple of the Lord and put it into bags. 11 When the amount had been determined, they gave the money
to the men appointed to supervise the work on the temple. With it they paid those who worked on the temple
of the Lord—the carpenters and builders, 12 the masons and stonecutters. They purchased timber and blocks of
dressed stone for the repair of the temple of the Lord, and met all the other expenses of restoring the temple.

Many of the kings did not do their job.
So how do you think about Solomon? He had many pagan wife, and he had the wisdom of God.

Solomon had an Egyptian wife, even before he took the throne. He did everything GOD told the kings not to do. He took foreign wives, had many horses, his first wife was from Egypt, where GOD told them not to do. He increased his wealth by taxing the people That was the reason the nation split.

Moses could not enter the Promised Land. Do you know why?
Because technically only God could be king of Israel, Moses had the status of Pharaoh's adopted son, and the people of Israel would accept him as king. And Moses himself did not like to rule over so many people.

So in the beginning, God had to lead Israel himself, but gradually God changed the process, and gradually the people of Israel began to walk on their own as a baby, and then there was the anointed One, the king of Israel. And of course it's for Jesus later on.

Hebrews
5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Sometimes God doesn't discipline these people himself because.Romans 11:12
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

The mistakes of the Israelites in the Old Testament are the perfect textbook for us to learn from the mistakes and don't let it happen again on us ,Perhaps it is the grace of God.

If God handle it all right, we might not learn anything and just read a blank book:geek:

What if Jesus will come and take away the ministry of the people he placed in building the temple?.
