My primary love language is “Words of Affirmation” - which is true, Id rather have someone tell me they appreciate me than to have my back rubbed, thats not to say I don’t like being affectionate, I just prefer words and actions.

My least is: “Receiver of gifts” - I’m not much a fan of receiving materialistic things, but I do appreciate them if I’m given them. I’d also rather gift someone else than to receive.

primary is quality time 40%

least is touch 7%

that is interesting because I used to go for a lot of massages/acupuncture/osteopathy and do them and considered training on various touch therapies for a while. lol
But then its more the time spent in while undergoing this type of therapy than the actual touch I suppose.
If you see a doctor for your troubles, they only give you maybe ten minutes of their time that youve spent maybe half an hour or more in the doctors waiting room for!

I'm taking the quiz...

It's a little vague... such as what's "sharing an innocent touch with someone I love"? The quiz already mentioned a hug so, I don't know what that's supposed to mean. lol Do they mean a slap on the back?

And it doesn't indicate who the 'someone you love' is. Makes a big difference if it's your buddy, dad, mom, significant other, etc. I guess we're assuming this is your significant other, right?

I basically have a three-way tie with Touch, Quality Time and Acts of service.

I was basing it on a significant other , but I guess your love language can cross between family, friends etc.

IMO “innocent touch” and “hug” are 2 different forms of affection. Innocent touch would mean rubbing my back or grabbing my hand, hug would mean hug lol.

I guess in the end you’d base the questions on your own understanding/view.

I like receiving the gift of salvation or the gift of eternity.

But in the five love langauges quiz, it was being given or receiving 'little gifts' its never says anything about GIVING gifts. It is more blessed to give than receive isnt it?

Besides what constitutes a gift? In my book, food is a gift, fresh air is a gift, a nice day is a gift. A word of affirmation is also a gift. Hearing a song is a gift, a letter is a gift. All these things are given by loved ones, freely.

or is it just meaning 'presents' like the kind you open on Christmas or birthdays.

I once had a job making a database of civic gifts for the city council, they all had to be described and counted and they were all stored in a vault under the town hall. Many of them werent displayed as there were too many but they werent really valued that much just more like souvenirs or mementos of sister cities etc. Things like paintings, objects, bric a brac. I had to wrap them in a special wrapping paper so they didnt get dusty.

When this Love Language quiz refers to 'Gifts' they mean physical item gifts. Like flowers, diamond rings, necklaces, box of chocolates, a dress, a car, a house, etc, more likely wrapped up like for Christmas or birthdays.

One category is Acts of Service, so if you buy some food or house supplies, that's an act of service, not a gift.

Hi Poinsetta, I'm not so familiar with this love language of Gifts. No loved one I ever had was a gift giver.

When I think of gifts between significant others I think of The Gift of the Magi short story, where the husband sells his beloved watch to buy his wife a hairbrush, and the wife sells her hair to buy a chain for her husband's watch. Beautiful in a horrific tragedy kind of way. lol

Or I think of the one-way-street of a man giving gifts to his prize such as expensive gold necklaces, emerald rings, diamond earrings, flowers, etc. I think some people even have a negative connotation to gifts where they're used to obligate, impress and purchase someone, ensnare the greedy and materialistic. Obviously, I'm pretty clueless to what you're referring to. Can you teach me a little about how the love language of gift was with your friend, that you referred to?

hi @Sculpt yeah well like I buy things for my friend for example for Valentines I gave her a box of chocolates and a book to read because she likes to read.

She has given me gifts too like one times she gave me small heart balloon with a crystal ball with a rose and water inside it was really beautiful like a special detail of our friendship.

Last time I saw her I gave her an incense stick holder because she likes burning incense so I bought one for me and one for her. She loved it.

And that's how we exchange gifts back and forth without owing each other anything just out of the thought of our hearts. :)

I'm single too. I asked a women once if she believed in love at first sight, she said no so I walked by her again.....lol I must be speaking in a different love language.....idk lol
