In the army in the early 80's I was involved in a major war exercise at Englin AFB which is near Pensacola, Florida.

And each of these "different doctrines" are man created, not God created "religions" and thus doomed.
Most in these hold to an outward form and deny the power.:)

Pensacola is in LA, AL and will always be. Heck, entire panhandle Florida is in AL.😁

Why Florida? Isnt it underwater?

Theres a new retirement village being built up the road from me. But I dont know about marrying someone whos retired and you are not..could be awkward. Honey I'm off to work oh but you can stay home and watch tv all day since you get the pension and I dont.

It was a expression of we are different. Like in the 70's when asked what is your account number, folks would reply back I am a name not a number. In the 80's folks might just say I am not like the other girls or I am not like the other guys and so forth. Now a days folks are inked up and will be willing to explain how they are different by telling you what their ink means to them. Or instead of wearing a coat of many colors they display hair of many colors.

In the 80's of course Miami Vice was one of the most popular tv shows. So folks not from the state had a overall or general picture of what Florida was like based upon what they saw from electronic media.

So was just a humorous way for the folks in Pensacola to say we are not like what tv says we are and that night life and faddish vain lifestyle portrayed. The image associated with Florida as a whole. So it was just them saying we are not like that we are more akin to what is portrayed as Alabama. Laid back, like to hunt, make vegetables lose all nutritional value by adding bacon grease to cook them in.........LOL.......and so forth.

So was just there way of saying don't believe all the hype we are different culturally, morally, and in lifestyle, and have views that are not what is generally seen on a screen or read in print.

I dont really have a picture in my mind of what Florida is like since never saw Miami Vice.
Ive heard though its like Grand Theft Auto (the video game) and also its full of retirees or orchid hunters.

I only really know New Orleans from The Simpsons song 'New Orleans! Tacky overpriced souvenir stores' lol
I dont think the New Orleans people were happy with how The Simpsons portrayed their town but its true that its in a swamp. Springfield was mesnt to be anywhere in the US but I found out that it was really based on Matt Groenings hometown in Portland, Oregon.

Many of the books I read from the US are written by Jewish intellectuals who live in NYC and work in their press thats why so many books are 'New York Times bestseller' so words appeal to a certain type of reader.

TV shows like Friends and The Nanny were like that even if they were filmed in a soundstage in LA. Most of Hollywood was founded by Jewish producers and screen writers and depicted a version of the US that was benign and somewhat 'wholesome' for entertainment purposes. Sesame street was also meant to be somewhere in NYC.

Well I think I had enough of working in retirement villages to have an idea of what its like.

If you marry someone older than you they will probably always pull rank you know the saying 'age before beauty' so you will never win that argument.

I loved the beaches up there the color is like sugar white sand loved it and all the little crabs running along the beach.

I lived 20 years in Orlando and 6 years in Clearwater. I get what you're saying. Now living in a small town in Tennessee having relocated from Clearwater 2 years ago. It's a different world here. It's like living in the 1950's. Strange to say the least. A lot less traffic congestion though so it's not all bad.
