I just want to add that be prepared to save and buy quality and reliable goods because things like fridges shouldnt be breaking down after only a few years. Or cars!

my bother bought an expensive mercedes benz and it was always needing something to fix. It was too precious to handle real road conditions!

as for heaters depending on where you live be smart about how you heat your home. Check you have got proper insulation eg curtains, carpets etc or all your heat is just going to escape out the window or holes in you walls.

My riches are in the Lord's blessing, not the things of this world which I have few of.
I raised 2 kids and 2 grand kids. They and their well being always came first and I always counted it a blessing from God for the opportunity of doing so.
When people complain about their responsibility toward their kids, any sympathy for them turns to discuss.
I will pray for your kids.
You mean "disgust." 😏

Yes I don't think of passive as free, but I know what you mean.

Looking for something that builds on itself. For example YouTube (although it's super hard to make a living from it). The videos and work are there forever. Therefore you are getting paid for work from the past. I'm tired of the rat race 1:1 work: money ratio. But maybe that's naive.
I want to retire. I am tired of hustling to impress potential employers, tired of worrying about pleasing bosses, tired of worrying about needing a job, tired of stress, tired of deadlines, tired of (at times) insane overtime.

That's a long line you are in with these sentiments. Maybe we will bump into each other in line.

I have an account on Etrade. You wouldn't think $30 is much to start with but there are free stock research tools such as offered on Yahoo!finance where I, figuring it wouldn't hurt to take a looksee, narrowed the search of equity stocks to .03 by price, figuring I'd then have enough to buy 1k shares if I happened upon a decent prospect. The engine retrieved about, idk, 7 pages of 25 per page? but it didn't really take that long to browse through them because most of them weren't really moving. However, I came across one that peaked a bit of interest so I clicked it, read the 'recent' press releases available , the stock summary, etc. and bought it. It cost me a commission of 4.95 because it was OTC pink, so I factored in that it would sit awhile before I saw much activity from it. However, a week to the day later, news came out that it was deemed an "exceptional" technology, and it appreciated to .05 and the trading volume went from 1k daily average to 1mil. This made me consider doubling up but I decided to wait, and the next day, it went up another 200 percent, so I jumped in and ending up with an average of .09/share. Then, it went up another 100 percent from there...and it still 'under the radar' because nobody is posting in its message boards as of yet. Its a water and air decontamination technology so I'm guessing it's catching interest especially since the latest news that indicates the need for such effective and efficient technology and the price will continue to climb back up to nasdaq relisting. This is not the first time this has happened for me. I collected an 1000% return on $900 at the beginning of the previous year that helped me get through tough times.

I noticed that also and a closer look revealed Richman was correcting blueluna's, or autocomplete's spellchecker, vocabulary/spelling of 'discuss'?

Didnt the dot com bubble burst or is it still going.
Apparently if you write a blog and have google ad sense on it it could generate some income but you have to be writing regularly and people clicking on ads.

so not really passive.
In nz we have kiwisaver and its managed funds but cant access it until over 65. However its all done for you. Being a fund manager yourself is not a passive job.

Leaving money in the bank as a term deposit to gain interest can be passive but you have to have over a certain amount and not touch it.

joining an mlm like amway is touted as passive but I wouldnt as its kind of like a costco cult. You pay for lots of stuff that you dont even need, sucking in others that are also buying stuff they dont need.
