It's helpful to STAY AWAY from places/people/images that provide "enticement". If you're a Christian (Born Again of the Holy Spirit) then God's PROMISE is that you won't be tempted above your ability to withstand. If you're NOT a Christian, then you're dead meat.

I agree. It is best to stay away from situations that are potentially dangerous.

Such as?

* Being alone in a car in an isolated spot, your home, etc.

* Feeding sinful sexual feelings by watching porn or staring too long at a provocative photo (all men momentarily get locked on to such a picture, but you don't make that second, and deliberate, look).

* It also helps to be with a woman who likewise does not want to sin.

All of this still may not prevent fornicating. But, it sure takes away some tools from the enemy.

For me it helps to watch other people doing the same thing, and take note of where they end up. I'm a big believer in learning from other people's mistakes.

In this case I watch other people making this mistake, and take note of how much drama it leads to. I have never seen anybody sleep around and be able to avoid the drama that always comes with it. As I am allergic to drama, I just don't mess with that junk.

Well that was an interesting coincidence... Just a few minutes after I made my last post, my coworkers provided a perfect example.

They started teasing this one young guy named Logan. There is a girl who came up pregnant, and Logan hopes the baby is Tyler's while Tyler hopes the baby is Logan's. To add drama, the mother is a apparently a spiteful girl who will take any advantage she can of Logan. Logan is understandably very worried about how the paternity test will turn out, and his coworkers are taking a lot of in teasing him about it.

Yeah, no, that's way too much drama for me. That would ruin my digestion. Examples like this make it downright easy to avoid fornication.

You need to know the mighty power of Lord Jesus who lives within you. He was tempted yet without sin. You also need to know that Satan is your enemy in this issue. I sought the Lord over the problem. He simply said, "Resist the devil and he will flee". I did that, and yes, it works. You are not alone. Jesus lives in you to be all that you know you should be but cannot be. Entrust yourself to Him and see how mighty He is to deliver you!

Don't have a lot of free time. Pray and find some hobbies. For people who are learners porn is too boring.

The way to come out from one draw or affection is to have it replaced by a new and greater affection. Your love or desire for sin will wane as your affection for God increases.
Psalm 37:4 says...Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
It's not that He will fulfill your current desires. Instead, He will replace your current sinful desires with those that are holy and pleasing to Him.

Great answers cos some singles on CC seem convinced that becoming a couple will solve all their sin problems. Um no.

The blood of Jesus sets the captives free.

And, from what I have observed, you have to give up a lot less too.

How can one stay a away from sin as single
1st Corinthians 7:2 KJV
"Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

The best way to avoid fornication is to get married. I know Paul gave this verse as advice and not as a command (1 Cor 7:6), but it's still the best thing to do.

1st Corinthians 7:9 KJV
"But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn."

Although God has given us the liberty to choose whether or not we marry (Psalm 84:11 KJV), it is still wise to get married if you burn with sexual desire.

"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
1 Corinthians 6:12 KJV

hi fornication is having sex out side of marriage scriptures have been supplied by "Airintake" for that particular sin. lust of the flesh starts the process, loneliness, rejection, lack of self worth etc etc, and we have to understand how it affects us and then spirals into sin. Jesus with the adulteress is the perfect example of how to handle it. 1. abstain from all appearances of evil. 2. walk after the Spirit and you wont fulfill the lusts thereof. 3. find a scripture and make it yours. in Job, he says, he made a covenant with his eyes not to look on a young woman, Jesus did the same thing and never looked but wrote on the ground instead. i use the scripture whom the Son has set free is free indeed and the truth shall make you free. yes it takes will power but can be done as i have lived through addictions and now mentor many men trapped in the same web of deceit.

I know...make it your goal to earn pots of money and get married, have children and then you'll be too exhausted to fornicate. Then when they grow up its your responsibility to stop THEM from fornicating.

The pots of money is so your children dont go round homeless.

Don't feed lustful desires. Feed the spirit within by reading the Word and listening to sermons. Pray over yourself and ask God to help you overcome this.

Howdy Noel and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple. I know some revered elder pastors who got divorced because they were caught watching porn.

Masturbation!!!! No porn. Just think of you and your dream wife//husband having sex and all that - think of holy sexuality, ya know? That way you get your horniness out of your system, you don't sin (masturbation being a sin is catholic/conservative propaganda my friend), and you get to figure out what you like and what you want your future spouse to be into.

A respected pastor whom I listen to frequently put it this way:
"Its WHERE you walk just as much as HOW you walk."

Martin Luther put it this way:
"you can't stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from making a nest in your hair".

In other words......flee from temptation. Like run away from where it resides. Bars, rubbish TV, movies etc.
