You may like Dr. Bronner's castille soaps. It is natural and they have a variety of smells. It is not too expensive if you get a large bottle. It is also multipurpose.

I've used it since we started camping. The ingredients are excellent, but you have to dilute it a lot since it cleans so well and strips oils. My favorite way is to add around 5% to a foaming dispenser. Then I add whatever essential oils that I like. Add hot water and shake. A little lasts a long time.

Yes that's what my mom did actually! I think she used lemon essential oil.
That sounds good. Is that who got you interested in using natural products?
I tried lemon grass oil last time, but thought about getting lemon oil next time I buy some more.

Maybe. She's always been a little unconventional when it comes to health. Or at least has been for a long time. She's really knowledgeable about herbal remedies and stuff. It's a real help for a large family.
That's wonderful. That's a valuable skill that's not taught at universities, but should be offered.
Most herbs are considered generally safe and proven for their given use. I can't say that for drugs, either Rx or not. Your Mom sounds like she has done a good job raising you... How big is your family?

I had a friend who was an herbalist who trained me. We studied wild edible plants too. That's why I mentioned dandelion greens in the spring. It sounds strange, but I like them when they're in season. I have perennial food in my back yard, besides the few wild greens.
I enjoy talking with those who use medicinal herbs. There are relatively few that use them. They don't have nearly the side effects of meds. When the Great Physician made them, He did it right.

That's cool you were trained by an herbalist. Mama has mostly learned by books. We did go on a couple herb walks with a guy who knew a lot about wild edibles.
I went to public school for first grade and part of second, then was homeschooled after that.

Oh that's not strange to me. I've made a lot of salads with chickweed, lambs quarters, and dandelion greens.
There are some very good books on the subject. Those are good to have for field manuals and positive IDs IMHO. If she doesn't have a copy already and you are ever looking for a gift for her, many like the Peterson Field Guide to Wild Edible Plants of the Eastern US. How fortunate you are to be home schooled. That's such an advantage. I went through the public school system, and earned a 5 year agricultural degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences at a land grant university. My pastor and church asked me to be on their church school board. I was up front and honest. I let them know that I have known students who were public, christian, and home schooled. I also did a research paper comparing standardized tests of each category. I told them that there are plenty of exceptions, however I would have to recommend home schooling to any parents who wanted my opinion. Regardless, they still wanted me on the board.
So, for some very important reasons, I recommend home schooling whenever possible.

I agree with you. There was probably a time when public schools were good, but not in these days for the most part. My dad says that's where he was introduced to things he wishes he wouldn't have gotten into as a young person.
