Why would anyone want to be in a relationship with a person who's views are diametrically opposed?

This is like throwing yourself into a fire, and then later saying, "Hey, why does this hurt so much?"

The bible says many things about various relationships... here is one:
Amos 3:3
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

be equally yoked in a relationship?
It depends if their love for eachother will overcome these differences. It also depends on how extreme their views are on both ends (imagine is a couple is Trump and Pelosi). There are couples who vote differently. Women stereotypically tend to be more liberal, and men more conservative. However, regardless of differences many people's love for eachother is not strong enough, so within a short time such differences can be major annoyances.

My grandmother was a republican and my grandfather was a democrat. Both were of strong opinions, but they seemed to get along together just fine.

My grandmother DID have a collection of elephants though. I remember a piece of wood carved into a 3-piece puzzle of an elephant, an elephant made entirely of silver colored metal and ruby colored sequins and many others. She kept it in the spare bedroom though, where he never had to look at it.

I attached a picture of what being unequally yoked looks like. It basically means they either can't work together or working together will be difficult since they don't have the same objectives. So typically conservatives and liberals are polar opposites, but many conservative and liberal ideas are opposed to Christ. So, in my opinion, it depends on which specific points they agree and disagree about.

Talking about liberals and conservatives;
My conservative grandmother used to be a big Trump supporter, but this year her mail-in ballot was cast for Joe Biden.
No way would she have done that if she had still been alive.

Unfortunately, that time is gone. In the past, the parties disagreed on the best way to implement policies. Today, they disagree on policy itself. There is little agreement on what actually is.
If someone cannot agree on the basic definition of a woman or that one even exists, how can one even begin to discuss roles?

Well, if you're talking about US politics, that's tricky. My husband was a liberal when I met him. He was a Clinton fan. One day he picked me up for a date and asked if I would go to a Micheal Moore movie. Goin' to see a Moore movie is like agreeing with the devil himself in my family, but I agreed. We watched the movie and I always say he made one mistake, he asked my opinion of it. Well he got a right quick lesson on socialism and as we continued to date he asked more questions. By the time the next election rolled around he voted conservative. He's so far the other way now, he can't even believe he was once a liberal.

Don't get sidetracked by my use of the terms Republican and democrat. The initial question used the terms liberal and conservative, and that is what I was answering. Back when my grandparents were alive, Republicans and Democrats were exemplars of sane liberal and conservative implementation.

There are still sane liberals and conservatives, and they can get along just fine.

A sane liberal is called a republican.:ROFL:

My bad. I was using terms as though they are synonymous. And while your argument is true, the fact that the terms are so closely linked today, does demonstrate that it is becoming increasingly less likely.

I know many people, liberals and conservatives, who would vigorously contest this notion. Some would be deeply offended. All the sane liberals and conservatives I know actively distance themselves from Republican and Democrat parties, and they are quick to let you know it.

In fact the terms liberal and conservative are not nearly as closely linked to Democrat and Republican as they used to be. When I was young they were synonymous, but now Republican and Democrat stand for only one branch of conservative and liberal.

In fact the only ones who seem unable to grasp this concept are Democrats and republicans. Maybe it has something to do with the "you are either for us or against us" mentality that both parties share, but Democrats seem to think all conservatives are Republicans and Republicans seem to think all liberals are democrats.

Yes,
And what gets me is how polarized the parties have become.
Each party is dehumanizing the members of the opposing party...as if this is the example of how to get along and work together. It certainly is not an example of positive leadership. It is most certainly pandering.

The OP said nothing specific about political parties:
The terms used by the OP did not specify political parties.
The OP used the terms "liberal" and "conservative"... those terms specifically denote world views, not political parties.
(It is possible to be a democrat who is more traditional or conservative, or a republican who is more liberal. These terms denote world views, not political parties. This is the exact reason that people sometimes switch parties... because they no longer feel the party aligns with their world view... thus proving that party and world view are not the same.)
- A "world view" is something far different, and far deeper, than a political party.
- A "world view" (also called a "meta narrative") is an entire system of philosophy, a framework, through which you assess everything in the world around you.

Differences in Worldviews:

1.) The term "conservative" generally denotes traditional morals and values which also generally tend to align with the Bible, and the term "liberal" denotes morals and beliefs which are specifically in opposition to the bible, and which tend to be constantly changing as they have no real foundation.

2.) These two world views stand in antithetical relationship by definition... they are not compatible as they contradict each other.

Opposing world views are a big deal, and they have far greater depth and scope than some arbitrary allegiance to a political party.

Take care, and have a great Sunday.
