The "deadly wound" is only found in Revelation 13:3 & 12. There are as many interpretations as there are commentators, and much depends on whether they are influenced by Reformed Theology. It is Daniel who first spoke of the beast with ten horns (Rev 7:7,8), but the important thing to note is the Little Horn (the Antichrist):
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
"A mouth speaking great things" in fact tells us that this man ("the eyes of a man and a mouth") is the Arch Blasphemer of God. But nowhere in Daniel is this "king of fierce countenance" wounded. As a matter of fact he is the one who kills and destroys others. The "deadly wound" speaks of total destruction since it applies to a "kingdom". Just like during WWII Japan was totally devastated and then rebuilt, a European nation will experience total destruction.
