When an apostate draws back into perdition, no one has taken him out of God's hand. He has forfeited His own salvation. He is cast forth as an unproductive branch and burned in the fire. This is not because of lack of good works, but because of lack of fruit.

If one finds it soothing to say that people who lose their salvation were never saved in the first place, then I will let them to that. Just remember to maintain a humble and repentant heart lest you become "never saved in the first place."

We'll agree to disagree.
Jesus said that only those who believe will have eternal life. All others perish… they aren’t immortal. That means immortality is conditional and being immortal in hell is kind of the anti-thesis to the gospel.
John 3
16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
I trust Jesus died to keep his promise.
If salvation can be lost, it is not salvation.
When you get your salvation it won't be lost. Are you in heaven right now?
Does God put all of His cards on the table, give you all of the gifts, and effectively give us the advantage to be unrepentant sinners having already swooped up the irrevocable gift of eternal life because at one point we were true believers? I don't think that's how it works. That's why endurance in the faith, in this life, is required. After one has proven themselves worthy then they are given the grand gift of eternal life. This message is repeated repeatedly in the New Testament. Do take note and make every effort to accept it since this is not a small matter.

Exactly! See the second death in Revelation 20, being cast into the lake of fire where there is torment day and night forever and ever.

Not quite.
This is about eternal life in the coming age as Jesus mentioned many times in Matt. 19:29, Luke 18:29, Luke 20:35-36, and John 5:28-29.
Paul mentions it too in the next verse.

I don’t agree with that. I believe death means ceasing to exist. No feelings, no thoughts, no existence. It’s got to be the exact opposite of eternal life.
Fair enough. In Philippians 1:6 what does it mean that He who began the work will continue until the day of Jesus Christ?

The key thing that's always overlooked or ignored is where it says "in Christ Jesus." If we don't endure, if we don't hold fast to the truth and remain in Him, we've jumped out of the life boat. At what point will this result in disaster is anyone's guess; so it's best to just stay in the lifeboat and be thankful.

14We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
Spiritually, we are already there. In the coming ages, the Lord will change our bodies to match our saved spiritual state. That's the glorious redemption Paul is pointing to here.
Stay in Paul's letters to the body of Christ and rightly divide the Jews and the body of Christ. When you look to Matthew and Hebrews and beyond, one can get their doctrine mixed up.
