This is why I think old fashioned stlyles or modern but covered up styles are coming back in fashion. Female celebrities are wearing next to nothing for their fans and dictating street fashion but what is there after that? Would society accept nudity? I dont want to see what anyone had for breakfast!
lol, yeah your right nothing left after nudity.

Personally, I would rather receive a gift that is wrapped and then find pleasure in unwrapping it myself...if you know what I mean.

Nowadays, nothing is left to the imagination where certain types of "clothing" are concerned.

Hi Jillian,

I was scrolling through a channel and refound the company that came to mind when I first read your thread here. I couldn't remember the name of the company, but here's a brief promo from the Baptist pastor's wife and reposted by someone else. They have 12 children, homeschool and like to swim. If you have parents at your church, they might be interested too. Hope you are well and have a great week.

Is there anyone else that goes on here that dresses modest? Also, I have autism and I know I don't ask things the right way a lot of times but I hope I asked it the right way. I don't wear pants or jeans hardly ever and I have been made fun of about it sometimes.
What do you consider as modesty? What are some examples?

I think not dressing in a sexual manner or showing to much skin is what the Bible speaking about. You also dress differently depending on the occasion or different climate but you still dress decent and in order....you can dress modestly and look elegant the same way

I would think the idea of modesty is pretty subjective.

Hi Jillian I am glad you asked. That's sad you get made fun of for dressing modestly. I have that conviction too and I know how it can be with peer pressure (yes not just teens experience peer pressure) but I want to encourage you to keep on.

I would like to encourage you too. I dress modestly, having the same convictions you have stated. I get mocking and scornful looks many times when I go out.
I try to keep the mind that this is my offering to the LORD and seek Him to use the opportunity to reflect His heart to all I encounter.
Hoping that even if I may never get to speak to them that they may see a person that has been changed and filled with the power of the Living GOD, that maybe this would fill them with hope to seek Him with all their hearts and become a child of the KING also.
May the LORD fill you with wisdom and might to be the living witness to His Greatness amidst a wicked and perverse generation.
Shine the Light of Christ!

The reason I said modesty is subjective because there are places in the world where they think modesty is a woman having to walk around in a full burka in 130° weather

Imagine applying western standards to people in Namibia.

Well, I would say anyone that walks around with their skin exposed in 130 degree weather is a moron.... but that's okay, the people that mock will learn when their doctor tells them they have skin cancer.

I think a woman or anyone else for that matter can cover her skin without having to walk around wearing what looks like a cloth trash bag.
The reason behind it is actually so a man won't be tempted to sexually assault her, instead of just making men control themselves, they make women walk around wearing a trash bag

A lot of western women walk around just looking trashy... a bag would be an improvement.

That's true, but it's not un-pragmatic to wear clothes in hot weather; and at least they acknowledge that immodesty is sin... and self-control is not part of the fallen man.
the Himba tribe. The ladies wear almost nothing and it's just part of their culture
Take a look at what else is "just part of their culture". Just because things are part of a culture doesn't make it not-sin.

So all the indigenous peoples of the sub Saharan regions are all morons?
As I have already mentioned in this thread, if someone is in extreme poverty and can't obtain or maintain clothes- it's a different story.
Namibia was ranked #2 in the world for their skin cancer death rate, but apparently the Himba avoid this by applying some compound to their skin... that seems pretty smart; but, even if they are poor and adaptive, the fact that Himba men share their wives with other men demonstrates that they have a shameless culture; which is the opposite of what actual modesty is. If poverty is not a factor, Christians will wear clothes- and you can see other Bantu ethnic groups in Namibia that wear clothes.

Every day on my way into work, I listen to Christian radio and the program during the time of my commute features a Christian expert exposing Islamic claims. Going by his accent, he likely grew up (having to become) very familiar with its teachings. Anyway, the most recent episode I caught explained the real reason for the head-to-toe covering is to let Muslim men know they (those wearing it) are "protected" from their (muslim men) legal right to rape them, and anyone not wearing one, no matter how 'modestly' dressed, is "fair game."... It's one of the many religions that "justify" slithery creepiness, while laying the blame on women...truly of that enmity which God told Eve about.

There are a lot of messed up things about Islam; but I'm pretty sure that's not one of them. They put rapists to death. Unless he was talking about their husbands which, they do not put husbands to death for raping their wives, but there is no legal "right to rape", even if it's not criminalized.

They have to abduct the victims first, of course. Then it's considered within that which "all their right hand obtains' and is theirs to do with as they like.
