If Christ came to fulfill the Law to free us from keeping it, then why does He say that whoever Does and teaches the commands will be called Great in the kingdom? Matt 5:19

Also, the law came because of transgression. Gal 3:19 Transgression of what? Before the Law was given by YHWH there had to be a standard for there to be transgression.

And 1 John 3:4 states clearly that sin is the transgression of the Law.
Sin is also transgression of the law.

If you are observant you will notice something interesting about the law.

The law is a vey long list of check boxes.

Yet drunkenness and gambling are not in the law. Shall we assume that drunkenness and gambling are not sinful?

Worldliness and the love of money are also not in the law. Shall we assume that worldliness and the love of money are not sinful?

I promise you that those who gamble, get drunk, etc, will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

So what is the definition of sin?

I can only speak as to what the scripture says and what the Father teaches me. Each of us will stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ. If it says sin is the transgression of the Law, I will seek the LORD to be in right standing with Him. I would not know what sin is without the law. So, it is good, holy, and spiritual. a spiritual man will seek to understand deeply.
I do not look for a list to check off and I do not believe that was the heart of the Father when He inspired men to pen His words. 2 Tim 3:16 makes it clear what the relationship between a New Covenant Believer should have with the Law. Which also lines up with Jesus' prophecy in Matt 5:19 b.
I am not here to stir controversy or strife but, to learn from and be encouraged by those that call upon the LORD from a pure heart.
I, personally, appreciate those that add something to my walk, to provoke me to seek deeper on issue that they believe are of value. I desire to do the same.

The Sabbath is part of the law of love.. under grace you can Remember to keep the Sabbath Holy..
Precious friend, respectfully disagree; In Today's Grace Dispensation, we
find:

1) Christ Lives In us, To Fulfil:

All Of His Law, In "One Word: Love thy neighbor as thyself!"
(
Galatians 5:14; Romans 13:8-10)

No mention of Sabbath in these; however, where it is mentioned:

2) Liberty and freedom to choose:

Rom 14:5-10 "One man esteemeth one day above another:
another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully
persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day,
regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the
day, to the Lord he doth not regard it...
...But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou
set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before
the Judgment Seat of Christ."

3) Some of us are "fully persuaded in our own mind" that the
Sabbath is "a shadow" of The Reality Of The True Sabbath, The
Saviour Jesus Christ,
thus we rest In HIM, 24/7:

Col 2:16-17 "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in
drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of
the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come;
but The Body is of Christ."

Conclusion: the 'sabbath remnant' group claiming (like other religious
groups) that "they ALONE are God's people" because the rest of us
non-sabbath keepers have taken the 'Sunday or 7-day worship of Christ'
"mark of the beast" are sadly mistaken.

God (The Only Righteous Judge) Does Not permit "this judging of others,"
Who Are Saved By His Grace/Mercy, NOT religious doctrine. Amen?

Your telling me that your under the law.

You realize that the law carries penalties for disobedience.

Romans 4:15
For the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation.

I cannot transgress the law because I am not under the law.

These are the commandments, the true commandments, His commandments.

1 John 3:23-24
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Love cannot transgress the law, because the law is pointing to the love of your neighbor.

Loving your neighbor fulfills the law.

It makes no sense to say that the law came because of transgression to the law. Although the people transgressed that too.

The Law came because of transgression against God. What was this transgression? It was rejecting His Grace. Complaining about His Provision, wanting to go back to the old ways in Egypt.

We are free of all legalistic restraints. Christ looks upon the inner man. As I posted in your other thread...
Not only are Christians free from the Law of Moses, but anyone attempting to continue in that Law is asking for trouble.

That is precisely why the epistle to the Galatians was written: For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the Law am dead to the Law, that I might live unto God... For as many as are of the works of the Law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law to do them. (Gal 2:18,19;3:10)

Since the temple does not exist in Jerusalem, and the Levitical priesthood is null and void, only a deluded fool can claim that he is actually keeping the Law of Moses. But in God's eyes he is a transgressor, since he is despising the finished work of Christ. The seventh day Sabbath was given to Israel. The first day of the week is given to Christians in order to apply Sabbath principles. That is why it is called "THE LORD'S DAY". Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week.

The law is 613 commandments, as far as I understand, not only the 10 commandments.
There were different laws.
In post 96 i showed many differences between the cerimonial laws and the 10 commandments.

Two different laws....
Compare Moses Law and
God's Ten Commandment Law
MANY people often confuse Moses Law with God's Ten Commandment Law, but they are very different.
Moses' law was the temporary, ceremonial law of the Old Testament. It regulated the priesthood, sacrifices, rituals, and offerings, etc., all of which foreshadowed the cross. This law was added "till the seed should come," and that seed was Christ (Galatians 3:16, 19). The ritual and ceremony of Moses' law pointed forward to Christ's sacrifice. When He died, this law came to an end, but the Ten Commandments (God's law) "stand fast for ever and ever." Psalm 111:7,8.
There are two laws that are made crystal clear in the following verses below. Daniel 9:10 is talking about God's law and verse 11 is talking about Moses' law:
"Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets."
"Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him." Daniel 9:10,11
Please note that God's law also called the Ten Commandments or moral law has existed at least as long as sin has existed. The Bible says, "Where no law is, there is no transgression [or sin]." Romans 4:15. So God's Ten Commandment law existed from the beginning. Men broke that law. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4 Because of sin (or breaking God's law), Moses law was given (or "added" Galatians 3:16, 19) till Christ should come and die. Two separate laws involved: God's law or Ten Commandments and Moses law.
To summarize the above. When God led the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, He delivered to them in fiery majesty the Ten Commandments. This Holy law was spoken by God, written by God, recorded on tables of stone, and is of eternal duration. At the same time the ceremonial law, of temporary usage, was also delivered to the children of Israel. This law dealt with the ceremonial rites of the Jewish sanctuary service, and concerned itself with a system of religion that passed away at the cross. Large sections of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy describe in detail this temporary law. The ceremonial law can easily be identified in scripture. It talks about circumcision (a religious Jewish rite), sacrifices, offerings, purifications, holy days and other rites associated with the Hebrew sanctuary service.

Moses' law.
1. Called "Law contained in ordinances"
EPH. 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.
2. Written by Moses in a book, 2 CHRON. 35:12 And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.
3. Placed in the side of the ark
DEUT. 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
4. Ended at the cross
EPH. 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace.
5. Added because of sin
GAL. 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
6. Contrary to us, against us
COL. 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.
7. Judges no man
COL. 2:14-16 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
8. Carnal
HEB. 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
9. Made nothing perfect
HEB. 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

• The 10 Commandments.
1. Called "the Royal law"
JAMES 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
2. Written by God on stone
EXO. 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
EXO. 32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables
3. Placed inside the ark
EXO. 40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark:
4. Will stand forever
LUKE 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
5. Points out sin
ROM. 7:7 What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
ROM. 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
6. Not grievous
1 JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
7. Judges all men
JAM. 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
8. Spiritual
ROM. 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
9. Perfect
PSALMS 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Can you see the difference?

Are we allowed to buy or sell on the sabbath?? Can we eat out on the sabbath??? Are we allowed to cook- prepare meals on sabbath??? Any help?
We are under the NT. Lords day.
Mosaic sabbath, cermonial laws are completed in Christ,
The ten commandments are still in effect.Heb.4:9 says there remains the keeping of a sabbath rest
That in the NT. Is known as the Lords day.

Hello roadoftravel, But yes,
People also ask

Did God make the Sabbath for man?

The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath” (Mark 2:27). These words of the Savior remind us that the Sabbath day was meant to be a blessing rather than a burden to those who observe it.

Can you see the difference?
I definitely cannot see the difference between the ten commandments and the other decrees.

The ten commandments are the law, see Exodus 20.

When Paul uses the word 'law' (nomos), Paul is referring to the first five books of the Old Testament.

Is the following ordinance as you call it, a moral or a ceremonial law?

Exodus 21:16
Now one who kidnaps someone, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall certainly be put to death.

That separation between commandments and the other decrees, is not evident in the New Testament.

If you kill or steal, you break the eternal law of loving others.

The love of others is the law Cain transgressed.

The law of liberty is the commandment Jesus gave.

The law of Christ is the commandment that Jesus gave us.

John 13:34
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

I am trying to tell you that drunkenness, worldliness, gambling, etc, is sin. Just as much a sin as any other sin you can think of.

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Can you see what Paul is saying?

The true definition of sin is actually, any poor behavior that is beyond the scope of our faith.

Romans 14:23
But the one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

This is all included in the Law of Christ.

ROMANS 13: THE LAW OF LOVE = THE LAW OF CHRIST
8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the Law.
9 For this, [1] Thou shalt not commit adultery, [2] Thou shalt not kill, [3] Thou shalt not steal, [4] Thou shalt not bear false witness, [5] Thou shalt not covet; and if there be [6] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the Law.

3) Some of us are "fully persuaded in our own mind" that the
Sabbath is "a shadow" of The Reality Of The True Sabbath, The

thus we rest In HIM, 24/7:

Col 2:16-17 "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in

Conclusion: the 'sabbath remnant' group claiming (like other religious
groups) that "they ALONE are God's people" because the rest of us
non-sabbath keepers have taken the 'Sunday or 7-day worship of Christ'
"mark of the beast" are sadly mistaken.

God (The Only Righteous Judge) Does Not permit "this judging of others,"
Who Are Saved By His Grace/Mercy, NOT religious doctrine. Amen?

You quote.. the second law?

Yet.. my friend.. you miss the Truth out of fear.

When you Believe… you believe this:

Matthew 22
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Being at Liberty in Christ.. the Law of Love.

As for anyone that tries to keep the Sabbath according to the Old Testament.. to break is death… that is why many fear the Sabbath… that is why many would not even rise from their bed…

The Lord was accused of things…. But taught it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.

It is part of the 10 Commandments…

Which of us can be sure when the Sabbath is? Which of us can fulfill the Old Testament? None.

That is why the Messiah came, to overcome for us to be saved.

Something to consider:

John 7:23, KJV: If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

Law of Moses should not be broken.. they circumcise to keep the Law of Moses on the Sabbath day. Consider that.

When the Lord taught us:

John 14

15If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

So, we are at Liberty..

Mind not but I believe the Lord’s Testament and anyone misusing using Scripture not to affirm this.. may want to search the Scriptures and ask for the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort.

I won’t reply hereafter, but leave it all here for others to go search the Scriptures themselves..

Glory be GOD’s in all things.

I see, to love God and Jesus, receive his righteousness and keep the commandments of the law in relation to my neighbor.

To me this is simple:
- To believe in the name of the son of God, the Lord Jesus Messiah, then he gives us the Holy Spirit and then he of God has made unto us the Lord Jesus Messiah our wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
- To love the way he has commanded, which he demonstrated by his own example, namely by laying down his life, by allowing himself to be crucified and his call to us is: "fellow me".
And his promise; eternal life.

And regarding the fulfillment of the law, it is to love your neighbor as yourself.

I see that the royal law is: "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well".
To illustrate that James quote some of the commandments regarding my neighbour and myself, he didn't write: "the ten commandments" which he could have done.

And then: "So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment." - James 2:12-13.

Mercy goes ahead of pointing fingers at those who do not keep Sabbath the excath way they themselves are convinced how to keep it.

This is in line with Paul's teaching, to love our neighbor as ourselves and that we are called unto liberty, as long as liberty does not become an occasion for the flesh (Paul explains to us what the works of the flesh are, Jesus say it is what comes from the evil heart).
And walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (Also we can read what the deeds of the Spirit are)
And Jesus says; do unto your neighbor as you would have your neighbor do unto you.

Yes there was no law between Adam and Moses, "For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. - Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. - Romans 5:13-14 KJV

Adams transgression: "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die". - Genesis 2:17 KJV
And we all known what happened.

"To provoke me to seek deeper"
Angela, married, 9 Kids, you fullfill what it is to be a wife and a mother.

To be a God fearing woman? To be subordinate to her husband, quiet, praying and doing good deeds to fellow believers widows and orphans?
It seems like godfearing women in the Bible are so different than women are in the church now a days.
Where they appear and are promoted in the churches in an ungodly manner, women who believe in their own conviction more than they believe in the Word.

You have a point and I will continue to seek the LORD on this that you have brought up.
Just to be fair... As a wife and mother I need to know Truth to teach my children properly and to be a wise help to my husband. This is the motivation of my heart.
I am sorry if what I have shared has upset you. I did not intend to instigate division or trouble. I only intended to share the things that have brought clarity and peace to me. Also, to make myself vulnerable to correction by the Word.
I will consider prayerfully what you've shared and pray that the LORD will lead me in His Truth and Peace.

The law came because of transgression.

It makes no sense to say that the law came because of transgression to the law. Although the people transgressed that too.

The Law came because of transgression against God. What was this transgression? It was rejecting His Grace. Complaining about His Provision, wanting to go back to the old ways in Egypt.
I understand it to be the teaching that Adam and Eve, Cain and Able, Seth, and so on received as they (Adam and Eve) received as they walked with GOD.
Like, how did Able know to do well in his offering and Cain reproved for his. And Noah knew about clean animals at the flood.
This is my reference to transgression. Having a knowledge of the will of God from the beginning and then transgressing from seeking to walk with GOD and transfer that knowledge of Him to the next generation.
I am not trying to correct or argue, I am just trying to share what my reference point is in what I share. I hope that there can be patient and kind responses, as a servant of the LORD is to be Gentle to all and apt to teach.
I would not be here if I did not need some feedback in my faith. We never really know what another person's story is and we could be the one that helps or hurts the situation...
