Pardon me if this question was posed before…
This morning I had a conversation with a friend who was asking me about Jesus and what He meant to me.
I explained in detail how Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life and shared some of my personal experiences that lead me to believe that without a doubt.
Of course I don’t understand all of His ways and never claim to.
My friend replied and added this:
“There are other, older guides that Jesus himself studied and followed. The hermetic laws, the universal laws, laws of nature...etc.... “
I asked him how he learned this, what are his sources. How can the God-man be taught anything- the One who created everything?
I know it says in the Bible that young Jesus sat in the temple listening to teachers and asking questions but when Jesus spoke He spoke with authority that amazed them.
Please someone help me to wrap my head around this and provide Biblical proof for me because I don’t remember reading anywhere that Jesus was taught by anyone other than the Father. Im sure Mary must have taught him basic human things when very little as she raised him but I mean spiritual truths.
My friend also said:
“It is well documented Jesus spent time in India and Egypt before coming of age...”
I asked for sources and haven’t heard back yet. Can anyone give me clarity? It seems wrong and off to me.
Have you ever noticed it’s at this point when Jesus starts preaching the gospel and claiming to be The son of God ?
“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying,
the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:21-22 KJV
notice that’s when Jesus start saying things like this
“For
I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”
John 6:38 KJV
And this
“For I have not spoken of myself; but
the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
John 12:49-50 KJV
the idea is that Jesus wasn’t just another wise man who learned a lot , he’s this one
“
He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth:
he that cometh from heaven is above all.
And what
he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath
received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
John 3:31-34KJV
and this one
“It is written in the prophets, And
they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father,
cometh unto me.”
John 6:45 KJV
And these words are his
“Verily, verily, I say unto you,
If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
John 8:51 KJV
“Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 KJV
He’s the christ
“
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him
in spirit and in truth.
The woman saith unto him, I know that
Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”
John 4:24-26 KJV
so in spirit
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63 KJV
And truth
“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and
for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
John 18:37 KJV
What I’m getting at is the holy spirit is where Jesus teachings came from , from the spirit of God dwelling in him
his words are the words of God forever and really he is the only teacher
““But
you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and
you are all brothers.
And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for
you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.”
Matthew 23:8-10 NIV
I’m saying simply Jesus didn’t learn what he taught rather he was and is
the source of what he taught
