That is to save him from receiving judgment without mercy, having to do with temporal matters (not eternal salvation).
The already-saved and eternally-secure person must not disrespect the poor man in the assembly or fail to love his neighbor (vv 1-13), or he will receive temporal judgment without mercy. He has violated the law of liberty (vs 12). His faith alone can't save him from that; he must do the works.

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
Hebrews 9:27 KJV
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; ( after we die ) that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
2 Corinthians 5:10-11
“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth;
they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”
John 5:28-29 KJV
“But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: ( this group that is patient and continues doing good receive eternalLife )
but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; ( this group receives those things at judgement )
but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:”
Romans 2:5-10 KJV
a the thing is as long as we refuse to accept the truth we can never accept the things that lead us to salvation like this would be foolishness if we don’t accept the plain truth and we see it as worthless and doesn’t apply
when we hear something like this we constantly end up telling people “ that doesn’t apply to you that’s not for the church your already saved “
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Philippians 2:12-13
Why would paul be telling them “ you’ve been obedient but now much more obey and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling ? If they are supposed to believe “ I’m already saved I don’t need to do anything I can never be judged by my deeds like Jesus Paul John and Peter explain to the church “
The judgement seat of Christ is the only judgement there is it’s universal judgement upon all the world it has nothing to do with a temporal wrath but everything to do with salvation and eternal life until we accept the truth we’re stopping ourselves from repentance which is leading men to perish
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: and before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me:
I was in prison, and ye came unto me. And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Matthew 25:31-32, 34-36, 40-43, 45-46
aim not sure why Christian’s argue against doing good in life and not doing evil making that a solid understanding should be basic God has always condemned sin always warned man you can’t keep sinning and serving the devil
hes always been saying do what right and you will live and be accepted
Hes never going to say “ it doesn’t matter what you do good or evil you’ll never be judged by your deeds “ he’s said and sworn to the opposite since time began
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
1 John 5:1-4 KJV
there’s just the judgement of Christ he offers salvation and everlasting life in his kingdom , and he warns against sin and damnation we now have a choice to follow him or reject him
