God made two great lights. It does not say He created the moon to give its own light. To the ancients (and to the ignorant..) it LOOKS like the moon gives its own light, but we know (or should know..) that the light we see coming from the moon is light reflected from the sun.
Not accurate
Jesus says in Matthew 24 AND Mark 13,
“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
Isaiah says in chapter 13,
"For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine."
Ezekiel says in chapter 37,
"When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light."
Joel says in chapter 2
"But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,"
if you take these to mean that men misunderstand what God said, okay, but this is completely wrong in regard to Jesus.
the word Jesus uses in both cases is the specific word to identify "something of itself" or "its own" meaning specifically "belonging to IT!"
It doesn't matter whether the bible specifically says "God made the moon to shine by itself." the bible clearly teaches that the moon "Gives its own light" NOT that "it gives the light of the sun".
Jesus specifically SAID SO
if you claim otherwise then you are specifically and unequivocally calling Jesus, and by extension, God, a liar.
