You're right.
I go by what you e told me you believe.
You do exactly the opposite. Here is what I said:
VARob said:
If you “sometimes sin,” you’re a sinner.

I believe that wonderful truth. 1 John 3:1-2

I believe what God says about us, that we are declared righteous through Jesus Christ.
You told me I do not believe what I told you I believe.

You're determined to be right at the expense of your credibility.

now has to go back and try to find what he said
That's going to take awhile.

I think we make a mistake thinking we can reach natural minds God tells us is a waste of time. Because the natural minded,as God said, cannot understand the things of the spirit.

They're foolishness to them.

And I think that is why we encounter what is highly visible in these forums.

Natural minds trying to convince Christians to read God's word their way.

It's why they insist they have dual nature's. It's why they insist they are sinners who sin because they identify as sinner, fallen nature, first.

And they're right.

Except they don't have dual natures. They have one.
As they tell us over and over again.

And God's word tells us, they will never understand.

Can we overcome that fact? I'd say , obviously not.

What then do we do?

I don't think it is ignorance of scripture. Ignorance isn't an ad hominem.
Ignorant ,unlearned people, welcome correction. They don't insist error is righteous.

I think it's precisely as God said. I also believe it is a mistake to allow unbelievers full access in a Christian forum.

Satan face to face with Jesus mocked the scriptures and challenged Jesus to prove himself.

Do we really think it was over after Jesus conquered death on the cross?

Righteousness and Jesus' people will be hated by the world as he was.

Witnessed any hate in these forums?

Sometimes I believe we need save ourselves. From wasting time where God said it would be a waste. 🕊️

well I agree with most of what you said

but as someone who was taught some things that are not in scripture or taught via twisting scripture, I know that people can actually be enlightened...but I would add that the Holy Spirit would do so

however, I do sometimes put someone on ignore because they do not want to discuss but just argue about how right they are or they are name calling or twisting what you say

these same people will keep on answering or be smart aleck at what you post indicating they either do not realize you have put them on sleep mode or they think you will answer anyway. sometimes when I see another person responding to something that was obviously a jab at them, I will check out what they responded to

sure enough, often a person I just ignore because of how they act

yes I have seen hate in these forums. religion will do that to a person

another interesting note on my post above, is that you will seldom see scripture (twisted is ok tho) from these folks. You will get opinions and snarky answers but ask for scripture to back up their posts and they ghost you until they think you have forgot the request

sometimes atheists will come here and try to make trouble

When man speaks of grace, he is speaking from the perspective of man. So, to man, grace IS free.

Do you believe that you must earn salvation? yes or no

So, you'd rather use ad hominem than answer a simple question. Why are you dodging my question about whether we need to earn salvation? Are you embarrassed to admit what you believe?
like I said, a waste of time
Given what I said above, yes, it does seem a waste of time trying to have a real conversation with you.

you are telling me what I am thinking after telling me I could not know what Paul was thinking
Did you even read what I posted. I asked a question: do you believe salvation must be earned? yes or no. This is the third time I'm asking.

Then I pointed out YOUR use of ad hominem rather than answer my question.

Then another question; why are you dodging my question about whether salvation is earned or not.

Then I finished with another question; are you embarrassed to admit what you believe?

So, your claim that I am telling you what you are thinking couldn't be FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH. I never did that. And those who have read what I posted can see that easily enough.

Next, time, at least read my post before you make up stuff.

Oh, and please answer my questions.

both funny and sad that is how you appear to conduct your responses[/QUOTE]

How do yo figure that? By my invitation to leave since my posts are boring to you?

no one is leaving the thread
ok, if everyone has said so. I didn't poll.

I said I don't care to exchange posts with someone who flip flops on what they say in order to create the impression they have 'won' an argument
And I asked you to explain the specifics of how I have flip flopped. Are you going to answer or not?

now in case you still do not comprehend that, I am going to hit the ignore button so I don't see your attempts at changing what other people say
Oh, so now I am "changing what other people say".

So, now you have TWO things to prove with evidence.

And, everyone knows that if you don't provide the evidence, you have simply made up stuff.

Well sure, and that's the point in the word isn't it?

Only the Holy Spirit enlightens and overcomes the natural mind so to bring understanding of his word.

Natural minds otherwise shall never understand the things of the spirit.

And I don't discount the idea there are unbelievers about. Pretending to belong here in order to purposefully sew discord and mock the Bible.

And yes, ignoring bad behavior is sometimes best. Even that shows us who are and are not in Christ.

How does rude defend grace?🤔

I'm in the same thinking on this varob. I've been typing the same kind of post as this for ages in response to those who say believer WILL overcome.. WILL do good works
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Does that mean we labor to get God to keep his word?

There is entrance to heaven and extra rewards in heaven for faithful believers. Entrance requires belief in Jesus initially for eternal salvation. Rewards requires continual faithfulness.

Perhaps if a person does not believe that, they think belief or confession is all that is needed when actions indicate the actual facts of salvation.
Yes.
Matthew 7:20
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

Children of the King do not continue to confess that they are children of darkness.
1 Peter 2:9
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Nope.
We are saved by grace, but He empowers us unto good works through Him. Without Him we can do nothing. It is He who affects the change. It is He who keeps us, but we must allow Him to do so.

Rewards requires continual faithfulness.
Salvation requires continual faithfulness. Faithfulness is not works. Faithfulness is faith.

Romans 1:17
“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

If you “sometimes sin,” you’re a sinner.
No. A sinner is one who lives in sin (by our definition, which we believe is the Bibllical definition.) A great change happens when a man is born again, and He should no longer identify with the old man. If he does, then perhaps something is wrong. Please give glory to God and testify about who you are in Christ. Don't keep reminiscing about the old life.

However, the key here is how he described himself as the worst of sinners in the present tense. Not past tense from a past life.
You can play word tense games all day, but it is clear that He is referring to what He did in the past. Do you know the story of Saul before he became Paul (a new person in Christ)?

OK so I guess you are meaning God drives a person to be faithful once they have been converted. I agree with that.

But continued faithfulness not a work? Not so sure about that.

No one can keep up a mouse wheel of effort for salvation because if they don't fail in the deeds, they do in their minds. Because they are human. Not God.. not 'little gods'.

That is why entrance to heaven isn't about continual faithfulness.

End

 You two are peas in a pod.... Have fun patting each other on the back.
I love you, Rob. You can be in my pod and pat me on the back any time you like. :giggle:

Perhaps you think that calling yourself a sinner demonstrates meekness and humility?

As long as you love Jesus. Peas Please know that the peas and I love Jesus to. :)
