Biker Erupts in Flames After Being Tased by Cop
Police policy is ubiquitous to pursue autos for minor administrative/tax infractions. This includes, but not limited to inspection stickers, licences, tags, and a burned out bulb on a license plate housing. If a driver evades, more lives are at risk when police chase. Police, driver and others are then at exponentially more risk of loss life. As a teenager, minibikes and dirt bikes commonly turned up dirt roads, then trails off short paved road strips when police were seen. Today it's likely to be ATVs on back roads. Harm normally never occurs unless a chase occurs. Trees are everywhere and the panic sometimes puts a kid into one when police decide to Enforce the Law/ LEOS.

Do you think it's important that "the letter of the law" be enforced, or should Law Enforcement Officers focus on keeping the peace as Peace Officers, and safety?

He was carrying gasoline in his backpack, which is why he went up in a fireball when tasered.

The police did nothing wrong.

I'm not sure what the point is in having laws you don't enforce. Either keep the laws and enforcement them or take them off the books.

It's almost as if it's a bad idea to carry gasoline in your backpack

The few kids that had dirt bikes for trail riding and fishing used to fill up at the local rural gas station a mile or so down the road. Nobody but one was old enough to have a license and nobody licenses a dirt bike. The only way to get there was most of the way on the main road. If we needed gas for mowers/weed eaters and parents forgot to get it, we'd just open the trunks of our bikes and put a container in there just in case we were tased by police that happened to not like a non licensed "motor vehicle" on their roads. We would know better than to ever carry a gas can some convenient way.

Should they all be enforced the same?
I've seen troops endanger lives by doing circle turns against traffic in the middle of busy intersections. Was it to go after a violent criminal intent on harming many ?
No. But they nabbed the horrible guy with an expired sticker and trumped up charges on him, threatening him with more. Risked many lives with over a ton of steel for an administrative violation for being late on one of the many taxes. I won't expect that or any other theft taken off the books, because it involves the love of $.
Had he gotten a call on a rape or murder in progress, perhaps a school shooting, well....

As long as there are people there will be injustice. It doesn't make the law wrong, just the administration of it. Are there going to be abuses? Of course. But if you're dealing with the law one way and another person another way, aren't you helping to create the injustice?
And I'm not advocating putting the public at risk to enforce laws and I do believe priority can be given to more heinous offenses. But again, why even have a law with no intention to enforce it?

Ask any lawyer. Even the crooked ones will tell you that there are waaaaay too many laws. The other lawyer will agree.

People need be warned , the link pleads to the INFOWARS website.

In today's world, not surprising. An officer deploys a taser into someone obviously wearing a backpack under their jacket. Or else, they're a hunchback.
So, not all that effective if not for the backpack contents.

The tasered person ignites because they're silly enough to carry a leaking gas container in that backpack. Because it's the fumes that ignite not the gas fluid itself.

Guy goes up in flames. Police run for the extinguisher. And while putting him out tell him to get on the ground and put his hands behind his back.

Or what,if he doesn't respond in a timely matter? Tase again?

🤦

My point if there is one in this thread, isn't to continue the boring cop threads. The news story just caught my attention, because it's so relatable in my part of the world.
Rarely do any true crimes get solved. IF there's one, it will get all kinds of press releases to make sure everyone knows.
On the other hand, there's 99% of petty stuff that makes little difference to anyone. I don't have a dog in the fight. I'm not on the side of the bikers or the "THE" Leos. I have little use for dirt bikers who made a trail through my yard and across my property. I put an end to it with a personal conversation. The more recent one had a criminal record. I waved down from my yard to talk to him about doing donuts in front of my house....in my front yard, tearing it up. The man tried to run me over. I dodged him and he almost ran into a pole trying to kill me. There are even Real Bible Laws against that. Should I call the police?

The guy was tased/electrocuted, maybe he had done something like that, but all I got from the story was a missing plate at night. I'd say, let it go. What's the big deal if he isn't causing harm or property damage. Things like car chases are far more lethal than a missing plate. The situation should fit the "crime" IMHO. Look how it turned out. What a shame.

I don't disagree. But if you take an oath to uphold the law and don't do it , aren't you obligated?
I have no problem getting rid of laws. I'm in favor of it. But let your yea be yea and your nay be nay.

My take is that he was out at night for a gas run to the station because of that plate. Less likely at night to be seen and get pulled over. Since he took off, he probably had an unpaid citation and couldn't renew the license yet. Anyhow, those tasers I think can puncture a plastic container. They're powerful enough to go through a winter coat.
The guy has melted plastic, nylon pack and polyester clothes stuck to him and retaining that heat. He doubtless has third degree burns and needs water to cool him immediately. They are claiming that he's disregarding direct orders by not ignoring the unbelievable agony, by putting his arms behind his Back.

I hear you. Glad you are referencing the Word. That makes it hard to be a soldier these days and a gt employee in many cases
I've been friends of some heros and they said they were officer friendly on the streets. One of my friends was the most decorated cop in one big state. He led the largest honorable police organization in the country. He told me that he was to obey the higher laws before all others. The state and federal Constitutions, the Declaration of Independence and of course the highest is the Bible. It about cost him his life. He kept his oath.

There are some states that have a no pursuit policy.
If a suspect flees and it endangers the public to give chase, the police discontinue the car chase.

Makes sense. You have the license plate,in most cases.

If not, most new cars now are able to be scanned by systems in police cars that read the vehicles registration ID.

If they get a visual of the driver, all the better.
Plus, in serious cases, there is air pursuit. They can always keep track of a person taking flight on foot or in a vehicle.

Thanks for the reminder. That's a good policy in my opinion. My brother had a friend who died in one of those chases. It went long and was at night. He died in a wreck chasing someone that most of us forgot about now, the why's and how's. Rarely are there chases after bank robbers and violent criminals in my state. It's mostly rural and the the highest risk to the police are situations like this. Once in a while I hear about the other person hitting a tree or something else. The roads are windy and dangerous.
