neither calvin or luther or spurgeon or henry or augustine or popes or preachers today know that Psalm 119 is Messiah Yahshua's prayer for life

checking commentaries from the revered Church Fathers shows they did not know that Psalm 119 is Messiah Yahshua's prayer for life and to be raised because of His obedience to the law in giving His life for us. none of the preachers of today get it either. most of them think Psalm 119 is David's prayer which makes no sense at all. the people who post Psalm 119 sermons on youtube don't get it either. Psalm 119 being Yahshua's prayer for life is the key to understanding Scripture and nearly no one knows that.

Read Psalm 119 placing His name, Yeshua, in place of word each time word appears. It is a blessing.

He is the Living Word. we are saved by faith in Him and His sacrifice to save us. He was saved by His obedience to the law which required Him to give His life to save us. that is what His prayer in Psalm 119 is about. He praised the law because it was His path to life since He fully obeyed it by offering Himself and trusting His Father to raise Him as was promised to Him in the law.

Yes, for us we are saved by faith in Him and He is the Word and the fulfillment of Scripture. Psalm 119 is His prayer for life. He asks to live and be raised at least 16 times in Psalm 119 because of His obedience to the law by giving His life.

when you read Psalm 119 as it is Yahshua's prayer, which it is, it all makes sense and reveals so much about Him and what He did. He totally trusted His Father to raise Him according to the promise of life in the law to Him. He asked to be raised and live with the law as His request for life. it is astonishing that nearly no one understands that from the earliest days to now. the jews and muslims do not get it either.

Psalm 119:5-6 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!
Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.
He prayed that and also obeyed to the death of a cross trusting His Father to raise Him again because of His obedience to the law in giving His life to save us as the law required of Him. He was the Lamb caught in the thicket Whom the Father provided as the Sacrifice to save us. by giving His life He fully obeyed the law and saved Himself which He asks for over and over in Psalm 119. Only He could pray that prayer.

in verse 106 He swore an oath and confirmed it to be obedient to His Fathers judgments which required Him to give His life. only He could keep that oath.

Psalm 119:106 I have sworn, and have confirmed it, That I will obey Your righteous judgments.

What should we learn from Psalm 119?

ANSWER

Containing 176 verses, Psalm 119 is the longest single chapter in the Bible. The author of Psalm 119 is unknown, but most scholars agree that it was written by David, Ezra, or Daniel. Each of these proposed authors suffered serious difficulties in his life, and the author of Psalm 119 reflects that in descriptions of plots, slanders, and taunts against him (verses 23, 42, 51, 150 ), persecutions (verses 61, 86, 95, 110, 121, 134, 157, 161), and afflictions (verses 67, 71, 143, 153). The persecution and affliction of the man (and woman) of God is a major theme of Psalm 119.

Another prominent theme in Psalm 119 is the profound truth that the Word of God is all-sufficient. Psalm 119 is an expansion of Psalm 19:7–9: “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.” There are eight different terms referring to the Word of God throughout the psalm: law, testimonies, precepts, statues, commandments, judgments, word, and ordinances. In almost every verse, the Word of God is mentioned. Psalm 119 affirms not only the character of the Scriptures, but it affirms that God’s Word reflects the very character of God Himself. Notice these attributes of God ascribed to Scripture in Psalm 119:

1. Righteousness (verses 7, 62, 75, 106, 123, 138, 144, 160, 164, 172)
2. Trustworthiness (verse 42)
3. Truthfulness (verses 43, 142, 151, 160)
4. Faithfulness (verse 86)
5. Unchangeableness (verse 89)
6. Eternality (verses 90,152)
7. Light (verse 105)
8. Purity (verse 140)

The format of Psalm 119 is an alphabetic acrostic, meaning that the first letters of each line in Hebrew follow through the alphabet, 8 lines per letter, thus 8 lines x 22 letters in Hebrew = 176 lines. One message of this psalm is that we are to live a lifestyle that demonstrates obedience to the Lord, who is a God of order (hence the acrostic structure), not of chaos.

The psalm opens with two beatitudes. “Blessed” are those whose ways are blameless, who live according to God’s law, who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart. The author of the psalm is a man who has known great trouble in his life, but also one who has come through it with a deep and passionate understanding of God’s unfailing love and compassion (Psalm 119:75–77). Throughout his affliction, the author clings to the truths he learns from the Scriptures, which are eternal and “stand firm in the heavens” (Psalm 119:89–91). His love for the Word of God and his dedication to remember it and live by it is a theme that is repeated over and over (verses 11, 15–16, 24, 34, 44, 47, 55, 60, etc.).

These are the lessons for us in this great psalm. The Word of God is sufficient to make us wise, train us in righteousness, and equip us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:15–17). The Scriptures are a reflection of God’s nature, and from them we learn that we can trust His character and His plan and purposes for mankind, even when those plans include affliction and persecution. Blessed indeed are we if our delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law we meditate day and night (Psalm 1:2).

no matter who may have recorded Psalm 119, it is the Son's prayer for life and to be raised after giving His life in obedience to the law. even David said on his death bed the the Spirit was speaking through him. most of the Psalms are the Son's prayers during His life on earth and eternally. He is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Psalm 119 can only be the Son's prayer. no one else could have prayed it and kept it. when you read it as the Son's prayer, it all makes sense because the law saved Him because of His obedience in giving His life which the law required of Him. nearly no one understands that. how the church fathers all missed it is unbelievable and they wrote thousands of fancy words expounding on Psalm 119 which are nearly all wrong.

They also do no iniquity: They walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded us To keep thy precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed To keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, When I have respect unto all thy commandments. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, When I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119:1-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the issue people struggle with is this distinction

“And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, And rose up from Seir unto them; He shined forth from mount Paran, And he came with ten thousands of saints: From his right hand went a fiery law for them.
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭33:1-2‬ ‭

and this spoken hundreds and hundreds of years after that happened

Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall ( in the future ) proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall ( in the future ) judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner:

but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:4-

we have to distinguish between the Old Testament law of Moses that was broken by israel and the New Testament promises he’s made in Christs word the gospel. Which is not according to the words of the first covenant they broke and turned into a curse ehich Christ died to remove

we have to convert from Moses mediation to Christs , from the law to the gospel and word of Christ

he promised this

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

but this shall be the covenant that I will make ( future ) with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:31-34‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and he had fulfilled this promise now the fulfillment has come the time is fulfilled

“The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭

“and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he was beginning to speak the law of light he promised then the new testsment new covenant was being spoken the new word not according to the old he had promised them

my point is we have to understand Moses word isnt the same as Jesus there is an old covenant that was broken and a new covenant spoken by Jesus for salvation .

when we try to apply Moses word to the new testament it doesn’t agree a lot of Christian’s are confused and try to mix the two testaments together but it’s not possible one was broken so we have to accept the new words and new blood to understand and know God

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he gave us the gospel that’s how we can know him and why he preached the gospel and said if we believe well
Be saved we can know God when we come to Jesus and the gospel

Yes, but there is a specific promise of Life in the law to the Man Who kept it in Leviticus 18:5

And ye shall observe My statutes and My judgments, by which the Man that doeth them shall live: I am YHVH.

That is the promise of life in the law. It is spoken of in Galatians 3 when it speaks of the Man to Whom the promise was made comes. The Son is the One to Whom the promise of life in the law was made. He kept and fulfilled the law by giving His life to save us which the law required of Him. to be fully obedient to the first 2 commandments of loving His Father above all and His neighbor as Himself, He had to give His life to obey His Father and to save His neighbor. That is what Psalm 119 is about and it is His prayer for life because of His obedience to the law and His Father.

A word or name which one may relate to Psalm 119.

David, a proper name or noun in English, but it does have a further translation directly into other languages.

From the Hebrew, David is translated Beloved.

Relating to the name Yeshua, the father of King David had the name, Jesse. Yeshi Jesse from the Hebrew means My Redeemer. Ergo Yeshi Yah is Yeshua or with a different accent in speaking perhaps Yahshua

Sometimes I like to refer to my Savior as Yeshi Yah or my Redeemer Yah. After all The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are indeed One, Elohim.

In John 17 He prays and says He and His Father share Their Name. Yahshua means YAH's Salvation. YAH means Eternal and has the sound of eternal which is present all the time throughout His creation. Say YAH starting slowly. it is the sound of no beginning and no end.

the Father's Name is YAHAVAH. VAH means authoritative Word as in command. VAH is used in many Hebrew words which indicate that. So the Father's Name YAHAVAH means literally "Eternal Word." Who is the Eternal Word? The Son. So Their shared Names point to One Another.

people have offered no evidence that the last syllable of the Creator's Name is Wey from Hebrew. There is no evidence for Wey. There is lots of evidence for VAH as in Hebrew word H6680 savah which is translated command 430 times in KJV. VAH means Word which points to the Son in the Father's Name through Whom He created all things by command.

Yes, David meaning Beloved refers to His Beloved Son in many Psalms. The meanings of the names are as important as the names in some cases.
