This isn't me, but I've raised some precious little possums like this. Contrary to common myth, they are very clean and intelligent creatures. The Lord used them to bless many children and adults.
Got opossums living in my garage for many years. They get fairly big and are good scavengers. Here in city rat patrol puts poison in alleys and seems opossums 'know' to avoid it and dead rats. I have rarely if ever seen a dead rat. Wonder if opossums eat poisoned rats?

I don't know. They used to use chemicals like warfarin aka Coumadin to cause internal hemorrhage or fluoride in rat poisons. Not sure now. Opossums can withstand and recover from many venoms and toxins. I don't have a list, but they sniff out rats and mice as good as rat snakes. They eat them like candy.
They love mice, but just for dinner.
They will eat them up quicker than this fruit preserve.
Click for the song. Something about them inspires silly songs like this. One hit wonder!

Here's a caracal being annoyed by a serval (savannah F1 hybrid) for an inordinately long time.
No matter how much the caracal hisses, the serval never takes him seriously. They must already know each other. As annoyed as the caracal is (notice the tail action) he surely would have put some claws behind his warning if they were not already good friends.
