Based on Charles Spurgeon sermon;.. accidents, not punishments,........click link to listen or ???
I have difficulty recalling scriptures and many things people mention about the Bible still can confuse me. I think of it as Alice in Wonderland syndrome. Or like reading a book I once came across about advanced mathematics, I could read and have some idea what the individual was conveying, but once I put the book down I wouldn't be able to explain any of it but I knew it made sense. Lewis Carrol aka Charles Dodgson was a math teacher by profession, and penned 'Alice' and ???. Spurgeon states in his sermon, referring to Luke 13:1 that we after accepting Jesus as our Savior & baptized are on PROBATION. Again it makes sense when I listen to it but cannot explain it. Maybe we are going to still be penalized for all sins and not being very mindful of God during this life. Maybe like the song about whose naughty or nice.

1There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had [a]mingled with their sacrifices. 2And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

I suppose, then, that the thief on the cross received the shortest probation period. Not only that but he was protected by the cross which held him tight, preventing him from committing old sins.

I do not think we will be judged by Jesus.

Have a look through some of the verses below and tell me what you think?

Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Romans 8:1
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 3:18
He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

1 John 4:17
By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.

My take is that some people like the Apostles who Jesus as flesh & blood man selected are to be given positions as judges. Moses is the foreshadow of The King and his father in law recommended he delegate authority. Possibly Heavens court will allow subpoenas and depositions?

The way things go are going and have been done seem to not truly reflect the genuine nature of God. Heavens court may correct all that has gone before. Seems our short time here almost 'necessitates' we resort to baser 'instincts'. Eternity is a reality which our mental capacities find difficult to comprehend. The only sense of eternity I can think of is in numbers. Any number can have '1' added to it and go on forever. We are limited at this time but the Heavenly Realm is not and Paul mentions that in addition to Jesus words as a flesh and blood man. Why would a Father put a Son in a terrible situation and also administer undeserved 'punishment' to His own Son?

Now that's an original thought if I ever heard one.

I do not think we will be judged by Jesus.
Only our works. The White Throne Judgement is for unbelievers.

We shall reign with Jesus during the Millenium...

Revelation 20:4
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

Jesus will then Judge (the unbelievers) at the White Throne Judgement...

Revelation 20
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Eternity is a reality which our mental capacities find difficult to comprehend.
We can comprehend right and wrong, though. Romans 1 tells us that all are without excuse who refuse to reverence their Maker.
Why would a Father put a Son in a terrible situation and also administer undeserved 'punishment' to His own Son?
Not how it happened...
Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Repent seems to mean take a different approach. Change your way of living. Why do 'Jesus' words seem appropriate here, '......consider the lilies of the field; they do not toil.'?

Quite certain Scripture tells us Father and Son made covenant before creation to perform what to us presents as a very sorrowful event. Greatest event in all history. And reading the record of Jesus praying in garden of Gethsemane just prior to being subjected to torture and crucifixion and wrath which mankind deserved gives some perspective that He knowingly had to endure extreme pain before a realization of joy. The Father knowingly allowed His Son to do this.

Seems like the perishing Luke refers to is only death in this life. Scriptures say something like 'given to man once to die'. Common phrase two things are sure death & taxes.

from the beginning God has told
Man “ the wages of sin is death “ or on other words “ Thou shalt not or you will surely die

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭

all Mankind is under an imperfending death sentance we live in the shadow of death always aware soon we will perish. Now enters the gospel to
Mankind whos already under a condemnation for sin

that’s why it’s all about being “saved “ saved from what ? And why ? Saved from what’s established in the ot “ anyone who sins must surely die “ now all have sinned and all are sentenced to death then you have this fulfillment of that sentance of death

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4, 6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so gods word of all sinners must die is fulfilled in Christs death. Now Gods word doesn’t hold the sentance anymore for a Christian now we can hear Gods true word as you see it means we’re passing from the sentance of death we were under

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭

that’s the opposite of perishing once sentenced to death , now offered life through his word

repentance means your Intentions are to do right always and when you realize that you’ve done something wrong along the way it should affect your conscience when you realize it and bring guilt which causes us to repent and gives us a spirit of supplication. Turns us away from willful sin teaching us from within

when we know we are sinning and we have the mind we don’t need to change it , it’s already forgiven , God doesn’t care ect it doesn’t teach us repentance or to change anything . This is willful sin it’s different from having to heart to always do good and then making mistakes and repenting

This is a father telling his children “ stay away from the cliffs edge while hopping on your pogo stick , your going to fall and die “

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭

It’s Jesus telling sinners “ you can’t keep sinning you have to repent or your going to die “ same thing he’s always said since Adam “don’t do it you’ll die “ now he’s telling us “ dont keep doing it you’ll die , Repent and believe the gospel and live “

Gods word is like a fathers loving instruction sometimes to keep a kid safe you have to tell them Hard truths to prepare them for life to keep them safe from harm God does t want anyone to
Perish it’s why he’s always been warnkng man to stop sinning and do what’s right

we are free to choose but some don’t want to he’s allowing creation time to repent and live be saved

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He wants us to live and not die that’s what his warnings are about .our life On earth is a grace period to find Jesus and the gospel Of life

if someone start to nourish with our lords grace........Nice thought.......Spurgeon seems to say in his sermon that we either go to Heaven or Hell when we die. He calls every method of death a gate to Hades in the sermon. Your reply is talking about life here and now being nourished. Once we die my sense is that we go to Heavens court. If you read english ok go back thru the posts here. Thnx for reply.

I do not think we will be judged by Jesus.
It depends upon which verses we recognize and honor. For example:

Acts 17:31 NIV - "For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead."
