I just watched the body cam footage... My goodness... I pray the kid makes a full recovery. The ex-cop himself should be praying all day and all night that he survives. If the kid dies, he will be facing murder charges.
I am pleased most of us seem to be on the same page here. While we respect legitimately good cops, we all seem to agree that there should be more awareness of these evil doers aka bad cops aka Blue Line gang members.

I've seen a lot of worship of those who are in uniforms as well as politicians. It's the sin nature of some to exalt people based on perceived power. That's why people get angry when you point out that their idol has used that power to harm innocents.
I grew up with the chief of police's family and shared dinners. I also have family in high places of law enforcement. FBI have attended my Bible studies and some got saved, baptized and participated in outings together. On and on, so I know what you mean. I've always tried to separate the good from the bad and not use the same paintbrush.
I also have been around enough to see others who were commissioned to fight crime, actually committing crimes. There are a lot of serious crimes committed by those who can get away with it. It's like corruption in politics.
There's nothing wrong with shining light upon the evils. Many Christians are sheltered and unaware of the world we live in.

All that I ask is you watch the video before commenting.
Facts:
1.) While federal law restricts citizens under 21 from purchasing tobacco, West Virginia state law sets the restriction to anyone under 18. This woman didn't break any state law and the citation was dismissed. (As to how a state law can contradict a federal law, I don't know... that is another discussion.)
2.) The woman asks the cop to talk, the cop grants permission, and as soon as the woman starts talking, he interrupts and begins yelling and threatening to handcuff her if she doesn't shut her "****ing mouth".
3.) The "good cops" at the police department didn't step in to protect the woman from the unhinged police officer. (It's possible they were playing basketball with kids
.)I don't deny there are some good cops, but when are we going to start holding the "good cops" accountable for not stopping bad cops from their abuse of power? Does the woman deserve this kind of reaction? What are your thoughts?
While cussing is poor taste, actually that’s free speech. He didn’t actually do anything illegal.
In hindsight, he believed she had committed a crime. He probably wasn’t sure about the federal law versus the state law in the moment. He was just following orders.
Sting operations on tobacco stores are bigger than a single officer, this came down through his chain of command at the police department.

the age is 18 not 21 where this incident occurred. saying the officer could have been 'cooler' and saying he has the power....? really? the officer is nut case and power given to a nutcase should be taken away. the so called officer is an abusive powder keg waiting to explode and the kind of person that gives police a bad name

Police officers are members of the public too. They kept their free speech. I didn’t see anyone being forced to not talk.
and yes cussing and swearing from sunrise to sunset is free speech in the US. Bad taste, but that’s just the reality.

There is no excuse for how he presented law enforcement. All he did was show he should not have any power to do a thing with or two anyone.
Remember George Floyd? Here, we have a cop getting ready to do something we all would regret. don't make excuses for him.
My dad was a detective. Don't tell me what a cop can and cannot do.
The guy is clearly not suited to be a cop.
Maybe he had a bad day, maybe he is being put into these difficult position by his boss, whatever the reason is he is not suited to be a cop.
What he did was not criminal, but it is certainly a valid reason to show him the door.
No big deal, San Francisco, Chicago and Oregon are all hiring cops.

Free speech in America was never intended to say any abhorrent and/or crude thing you want, it was always intended the freedom to speak what is right and Godly.
Our founding fathers were clear it was form of government only a righteous people could manage.
