Me too. I don't fully understand what the cloud is, but I think it's a vehicle of some sort or a way to conceal. I one time prayed to see Jesus and a cloud appeared beside my bed with a face in it. Another time, I was praying and admiring the stars and a cloud came down. I'm not going to say what happened then, but it was a bit scary.

Many mentions God being associated with a literal cloud, Jesus on the clouds, angels on the clouds, etc. in the Bible.

Now I am positive your experience was genuine.

(TOL) thinking out loud........Years ago reading true crime ,,,,Robert Ressler, 'Whoever Fights Monsters', serial killers hear voices to go kill or ?. But God's message is(((((( Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.)))))) Is it possible we should suspect auditory messages as possibly from Satan??????!!!!!......"Word of God" is written in the Bible and only listen if someone is reading it out loud????
 
TOL.....I know there was a 'Donkey' talked to 'Balaam' I think. And Mary and Elizabeth 'heard' angels speak. And Elizabeth's husband 'heard' ????? 'speak'??????? I am flumoxed!!!!!....Someone who knows the Bible better than me needed here.

I sort of counted them and then they are also all OT,,,,I have thought a little in the past of how did the prophets receive the words to write. Got me???? The link came up with the books of Thessalonians at the same time up in the left corner. Why????

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
 
There are two kingdoms, His of light and the adversaries kingdom, the adversary only comes to steal, kill and destroy.
The Lord's kingdom brings the Galatians c5, v23&23 attributes.
Job 33-14 tells us how God speaks first one way, then another, though we don't perceive it, He is speaking, guiding, showing us all the time, we need to perceive it, once we do, we can grasp and walk out His guidance.
It is required of us to learn to recognize each.
Jesus Himself taught He only did what He saw the Father do, He only said what He heard the Father say.

In the OT it seems that there are occurrences of not only angels but also possibly Jesus coming as any flesh & blood man and even having something to eat in one case. Maybe prophets were also visited 'irregularly' and dictated to.

How do you know that Paul was not hearing the voice of God in his spirit? God is a spirit, and he directly speaks to our spirits. Remember the flesh might hear something that God didn't say and distort it because the flesh is against the Spirit and the Spirit is against the flesh (Gal. 5:17, Rom. 8:5-8).

The few times God has spoken to me audibly was to my spirit. I know because His voice was heard inside of me.

I have heard the Lord speak to me "audibly" a few times in my life because it was particularly important to me to understand what He was trying to tell me. Other times He just spoke to me through my intuition or through dreams and visions of the night. However, do not think that I have "an open heaven" or that I hear Him all the time.

I believe every believer that claims to have a relationship with the Lord, should be always present to the Lord, and be ready to hear His voice, one way or another, that is, if one really wants to know the Lord (Jn 17:3), eventually he/she will detect He has spoken to them.

In their particular case, I believe Saul (Paul) had witnesses to what he encountered on that road to Damascus.

Acts 9:5-7
5“Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,”He replied. 6“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless. They heard the voice but did not see anyone.

Something similar in the below passage:

John 12:28,29
28Father, glorify Your name!”

Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

29The crowd standing there heard it and said that it had thundered. Others said that an angel had spoken to Him.
